So anyway, I had a nice drive in my muscle car today to just check out a local gun store. Anyone else do so randomly? I’ll hit 2 tomorrow to see what’s new!

John Kloehr Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 On that note, what was your first firearm and do you still have it?

The first firearm that I bought was a Colt Combat Gov’t .45. I bought it for $317 at B&B Sales in North Hollywood, CA in 1983. That was one of the coolest guns I have ever owned. I wish I still had it.
Eyesa Horg Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 The first I bought at 17 is a Marlin-Glenfield Model 60 .22 with squirrels on the stock. Still have, still shoot it. Cuts down on the chippies. Although I typically nowadays, use my Widder soft stroke Henry .22 !
Michigan Slim Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 H&R .410. 11 years old. Still have it. Great gun. NOTHING smells better than a freshly fired .410 shell on a frosty morning.

Had one from the early 30's that was stolen 13 years ago in a burglary.
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 Cooey bolt action repeater, for Christmas in 1954, from the Hudson Bay store. Gifted it to my uncle Ernie, when he and my aunt moved out of town. Got it back a few decades later, after he passed. Still have it.
Lawdog Dago Dom Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 If you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce, will they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does?

Alpo Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 Mama was driving Daddy's new car. The first thing she said when she got back to the house was, "How do you turn the damn brights off!!??" People had been flashing their lights at her for the last half hour, and her left foot had been searching all over the floorboards. Daddy's new deuce-and-a-quarter was the first car we ever had that did not have the button.
Alpo Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 And while I'm on the subject of new cars, I rented a car at the San Juan airport, and drove it all the way to the other end of the island with the windshield wipers on, because I did not know how to turn them off, and there was no owner's manual in the glove box. When I got to my motel that night, I asked somebody in the parking lot. That kind of thing really makes you feel stupid.

Noz Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 HA!!!! ya thohts ya got rid of me but here I am agin. My Mom told me many times "you best be careful or you gonna kill youself some day" I just keep trying. Come awful close recently. Bragging. I got to my home club late and shot 3 whole stages, all clean. My best stage was just a hair over 70 seconds. Best match in three years. That is the result of little nap on my front porch. Dr. recommended I not lay down quite so hard in the future. Since I don't take advice well, he kept me in the hospital for 5 2 days. When I got on here today, first time in a WHILE, I was sure the quality of corospondence would have improved, but what do find all in a bunch? Chicasaw Bill, Michigan Slim, Blackwater, Linn Kellar, Sub Deacon Joe and (gasp){surely not but my evil twin} JBar the cowboy. I am afraid that having discovered that there having been no improvement whilst I was gone, I feel obligated to return to this forum to elevate the quality. I shall endeavor to persist altho I fear some resistance. I was telling my evil twin about my latest effort with my recent purchase of a cordless pole chain sawInstead of receiving the comfort I needed he told me that he felt no sympathy for me since knew I was not allowed out of the house without adult supervision. I'll be watching you.
