Buckshot Bear Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Golly its only the 18th of September just two weeks into Spring and its already blazin' hot and pushing 35°C We've got 9 months of this now
Texas Lizard Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 That is funny...It is only 73 here at my place....Feels good to me... Texas Lizard
Michigan Slim Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Beautiful fall day here today. Started in the 50's and got to 73. Back down in the 50's now.

Pat Riot Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 35 degrees. Warm enough to melt ice cream, but cold enough for drinks. Oh, you mean Celsius…
Cypress Sun Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 73 is blazin' hot? I haven't seen a exterior temperature of 73 since early April. Maybe sometime in in late October we'll see 73...maybe. Along with the high temps, we are down about 18" of rain as the normal afternoon rain showers have stopped appearing. If your summer there is like the latest summer here (hotter than hell itself) I wish you luck. I'm ready for some (Florida) winter temps...already have my winter shorts and T-shirts picked out. Wait, I never put them away.

Texas Maverick Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 We just ended a record breaking month here in central Texas of being over 100. We are now in the mid 90's so it feels like a cold front moving through. Hopefully our fall temps will continue and the 100's are done for the year. Now we need A LOT OF RAIN. TM
Rye Miles #13621 Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 We’ve had a beautiful summer here in NE Ohio. We only had 2-90 degree days. Not much rain, mostly high 70’s and 80’s. It’s 65 and sunny today! Gorgeous day!

Buckshot Bear Posted September 18, 2023 Author Posted September 18, 2023 This is the real horror that goes with the extreme heat (and a heat that is 24 hours a day....no cool nights) .....the UV index we cop down here....the sun has some real BITE and is why there are so many skin cancer clinics in every town
Rip Snorter Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 I've had enough patches carved or frozen off that you will never see me without Hat, Long Sleeves and Jeans. I can handle heat better than cancer.

I must have missed that day (and decade) also! When the temps get near 100 with 75 - 80+% humidity, it's easy to get heat stroke within an hour of even moderate work outside. Dozens of people die every year in Florida because it kind of sneaks up on them. By the time that they realize that they are dehydrated, it's too late. I've seen folks pass out at matches on multiple occasions and many more on construction sites/jobs. I have to imagine that that record fell this year as the meteorologists keep saying that this is the hottest year on record for Florida.

We get horrible hot 85% humidity nights....I don't know how folks made it without A/C. Hottest day I've known was 48.5c° (120f°) at our place and we live on the East Coast and we were in a 6 day blackout after bushfires had ravaged the place and we were waiting for the army to bring in generators.....and I never want to go through a day like that again!

bgavin Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 We’ve been on vacation in D.C. where it has been ghastly hot and ghastly humid. Took off for three days in Duncan, SC, then came back to Fall in D.C. now cool, crisp and not humid at all. Very fast change of season.
Eyesa Horg Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Our summer has been unusually hot and humid. Little sun and lots of rain.
Perro Del Diablo Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 96° f us cold front here in Texas
