LawMan Mark, SASS #57095L Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 From the Shooting USA facebook page: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Scoutten. In his thirty years of reporting the shooting sports, Jim played a pivotal role in the industry and will be greatly missed. “As always, shoot safely, shoot often, and keep ‘em in the ten ring” -Jim Scoutten
Dantankerous Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Well, damn. I really enjoyed his work and enthusiasm. Rest in Peace, Mr. Scoutten.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Oh wow, sad. I enjoyed his shows he will be missed! RIP Jim
Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Too bad. I think I've watched him on and off for nearly 30 years. Just guessing, but I suppose that his son will be tasking the reins now, since he's been a presenter for several years now.
Sixgun Seamus Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Sad news indeed. I had the opportunity to meet and talk to him on several occasions at NRA Conventions. One time I was wearing a Shooting USA shirt and he came over and said he wanted a picture with me. Great guy. He will be missed. RIP Jim.
Clay Mosby Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Sad news indeed. Rest In Peace Sir! It was his show many years ago that introduced me to Cowboy Action Shooting.
Blackwater 53393 Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 I met him a couple of times, several years ago. He came to Wartrace with a crew and shot with us at our monthly match. They filmed the match and did a large segment on CAS and SASS that ran several times on Outdoor Network.
Pat Riot Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 I liked him and his work. Rest in peace, Mr. Scoutten.
Henry T Harrison Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Does anyone know what happened? The last Shooting USA I saw was hosted by his son and I wondered if something was wrong. He will be missed
Capt. James H. Callahan Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Haven't seen his show in several coons' ages, but I remember I liked it. Sad news JHC
Capt. James H. Callahan Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 I've done a brief search but don't see how old he was. Anyone know? JHC
Utah Bob #35998 Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 A tremendous ambassador for the shooting world. He will be missed.
