EOT 2023 From My Saddle

My wife followed me over to the range from San Diego and we left my truck and trailer here and headed up to Sedona for a get together with family up there. We left Sedona this morning in a snow storm. It’s been raining and a little hail here back at the Ben Avery Range, home of EOT.

Hopefully over the next week I can pass along some of the fun and flavor of  EOT to those of you unable to attend.

Doesn't look like fun weather to shoot in even if it is EOT. Guess you make the best of what you get. Good luck to everyone and stay safe. No extra holes when you come back home.

Talked with a whole bunch of old friends this afternoon and the Rangers provided a great lunch and some recognition awards. Nine Toe Joe received a standing ovation when he was presented with a huge poster with words of affection from his fellow rangers, he’s been doing that job for 19 years!!!! I’m glad I brought along a propane tank and portable fire pit to warm things up in the Cart Corral, might be a popular hangout a couple of days this week.

Seems to me that there are more vendors this year and I’ll post some of their pictures tomorrow. I brought some good back up power devices for my phone this year so running out of battery power shouldn’t be an issue this year. I’m probably going to get a lot of aliases wrong because I’ll have so many thrown at me so if I get it wrong please let me know.

Singing Sue gave me the first hug and then because I had my buffalo coat on the women couldn’t keep their hands off of me, pictures tomorrow.

Yul is in a good spot to view and talk to the shooters.  This diagram is not to scale but I have added a box showing the location of the cart corral and Cowboy Fast Draw.  Stages one through four are right in front of the cart corral and everyone going to or from stages one through four has to pass directly in front of Yul.

The only picture there that is from the Phoenix area is the last one with the tents. I'm guessing the rest are from Sedona area.

Yes, the snowy picture was at our hotel in Sedona yesterday morning. No snow here at the range.

I was lucky enough to be on their posse last year.  Fantastic folks to shoot with and all around great people.

I made my first big purchase this morning: 30 bags of lead shot from Thunderbird Cartridge.  I also bought a case of Claybuster wads for $10/bag.
