Yul Lose Posted March 1, 2023 Author Posted March 1, 2023 A few musings on EOT, if I may. As we head into side match and warm up day rain and high wind will likely play a part but from what I can tell the main match days are going to be pretty nice and rain free. My youngest son is coming down from Pinetop/Lakeside with his wife and Buck Garrett and I are meeting them for dinner. She’s a nurse at Children’s Hospital and has a week of work down here. My son is going to be at the range with me for a couple of days and I look forward to that. He did that last year and we had a great time. My daughter is coming down from Sedona and we’re all going out to breakfast on Friday. We weren’t able to do this when EOT was in New Mexico. Everywhere I go here at EOT I’m met with smiling faces. The Rangers that do all of the work building, setting up, repair, maintenance, security, virtually everything that makes EOT the success that it is are a bit short handed this year so some of them have to put on different hats and do different jobs and they do it with gusto, I don’t hear any grumbling at all. I asked for an easy up to be put up at the Cart Corral to help keep us out of the rain today and they came through like all stars. It got delivered and about an hour later 2 Rangers showed up to get it put up. Not only did they get it put up they staked it down so that it wouldn’t become a kite later today. Minnesota Clay jumped right in to give them a had, he’s my right hand man and we really work well together and enjoy just sitting there visiting. With the main match commencing tomorrow there will be far more attendees and if it’s anything like last year the public attendance will be quite heavy. One of the things we do, because of our location in respect to the access path to the first four stages is keep an eye out for public attendees or anyone else for that matter that don’t have eye and ear protection. There are signs posted that eyes and ears protection are mandatory but we have to tell quite a few people to put them on or if they don’t have them where to go to get them. It’s amazing to me how many people take their kids into that area with no eye protection on. I get out to take my pictures 2-3 times during the day and I also take a ton of pictures right there around the Cart Corral but if there are certain things you’d like to see pictures of let me know and I’ll see what I can do. Oh and if you know any of those people in the pictures that I take ask them how I get them to smile..
