Highwall
You are correct sir! I just googled a similar one because it was easier than going down and opening my gun safe to take a pic of the actual gun. But now I did. Here it is.
Steel-eye Steve SASS #40674
I have used a 2nd model Merill carbine and 5th model Burnside carbine for Plainsmen matches. I have also shot a 1860 Colt Army and a 1874 Sharps Military rifle. I have successfully bear hunted with Winchester 1895 SRC, manufactured in 1901, in .30 Army. Warden Callaway
I just completed cleaning up and repairing my latest old shotgun project. A Remington Whitmore Lifter 10 guage. It was introduced in 1873 and this one is serial number 214 so I'm assuming it's an early model of the run. I'm planning to shoot it on next match. Watch my stage times go from 60 seconds to 80! The barrels are so heavy, I noticed I was lifting the buttstock to close rather than lift the barrels.

Turkey Flats Jack
I regularly use a pair of pietta new model army's. One was purchased new in 1979 and the other in the late 90's. I have an original 73 in 38/40 that I shoot but never at a match.
Warden Callaway
I just took a couple of pictures of some of my old cowboy guns. Colt 1878 10 gauge. Shot it in one New Year's day match. Marlin 1889 44WCF that I've shot in a couple of matches. Colt FSS in 44WCF made in 1881 that I have yet to shoot. Wider shot. I need one more pre-1899 pistol to have a full set of guns before 1899. I have several shotguns and a couple of rifles that qualify but only one handgun.
Doc Coles SASS 1188
Well, if you want the oldest guns I shoot here you go. I get massive style points but I will admit that my times suffer somewhat.
Mud Marine,SASS#54686 Life
Original .41 Long Colt Thunderer. I also have a 1905. They are fun to shoot at local ranges. Sometimes I also shoot an 8 gauge 4-1/4" double. Not "legal" but fun!
Yusta B.
The oldest gun I shoot with is probably Griff. He's older than dirt & more accurate than the average shooter. He likes to put eyes on the chickens at bar 3 .....
Cyrus Cassidy #45437
Oldest guns I take to SASS matches: All of mine are of modern manufacture. Oldest guns I own and shoot: I have two pistols from the Mexican-American War. One was made in 1848, and I have shot it.
Warden Callaway
We have a match on this coming Saturday morning. I'm planning to shoot a combination of old guns and one new gun. I'm going to shoot my Remington Whitmore Lifter 10 gauge. My Marlin 94 in 38WCF. I've shot this one in two matches last year. My Colt SAA 1st generation in 38WCF. And my Cimarron Model P old model in 38WCF. It'll be the first outing for the Remington Lifter, Colt SAA and Old Model P. I don't expect to set any speed record. Warden Callaway
Well, we shot Saturday and I exceeded my expectations. I didn't come in last but close. How slow was I? Well, we had some fast shooters that shot the whole match in less time than my longest single stage. A 10 pound 10 gauge with 32" barrels is not the handist thing to maneuver. And it don't shuck. I didn't even try. The Marlin did fine. Just operator error. I spent some time to clear a loading gate that didn't pop back up on last round loaded in the magazine. My fault for not catching it a the loading table. And it has the original two-piece firing pin so if the lever is not completely closed it won't fire. That tripped me up a couple of times. But it's not a competition gun. It's a project gun I rebuilt from junk. The first generation Colt did fine. I missed one when it went off just a little sooner than I expected. I had put a set of Wolfe reduced power springs in it the day before and the trigger pull is light. I may put the factory trigger spring back in. The Cimarron Model P did fine a shot it in my strong hand so it had a bit of an edge. They had me down for two misses. I know I had the one but can't recall the second. No "Ps". I was the only one shooting frontier gunfighter so I won my category. In fact, I was the only one shooting black-like powder. The conditions were perfect - high humidity, no breeze and under a forest canopy. The smoke stained right where it was put. At times I just paused until I was able to see the targets. Oddnews SASS# 24779
i have a 1903 vintage Winchester 92 in 32 WCF. I don't shoot with it regularly because I'd rather use newer guns for the wear and tear of competition, but I have shot it in matches once in a while. Mud Marine,SASS#54686 Life
I have no issues with my AyA ten 3-1/4". I often shoot an original .41 Long Colt Thunderer and its 1905 mate. Once in awhile, I bring my Parker 8 gauge 4" double. I love lots of smoke, flames and booms! :-)
Warden Callaway
I've got an original Winchester 73 in 38WCF and a 92 in 32WCF. I've shot them both in matches.
Baltimore Ed
Whenever Colour Sgt Bourne makes an appearance he uses my 1891 .44 WCF Winchester 1873 Musket complete with socket bayonet as I don’t have a Martini Henry to loan him. Now lets all sing ‘Men of Harlech.’
