Sad news from the west coast

Got a Christmas card from one of my distant cousins today. I was informed that the one cousin that I had the most contact with over the last decade had passed in August. Gordon Schweitzer, retired U.S. Army chaplain. He and I had been working over the years to piece together family history. Unfortunately, his wife did not inform me of his passing. I knew his health had been slipping, he didn't advise me of the reason for their last move. He is now interred at Arlington National cemetery. I will miss our conversations, and salute him for his service to our Country and just wish I would've had the chance to sound Taps for him:FlagAm::(:(

Sorry for your loss.  Shame his wife could not/ would not get word to you

I would contact his widow about obtaining his files of family history; maybe offer to copy whatever documents you don't already have.  If she has not already disposed of them.

Talked to card sender at length last night. Congestive heart failure was the cause. That's what precipitated their last move as well. Card sender wasn't aware that none of us was notified either:blush:
