Rye Miles #13621 Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 I wasn't in the military but my dad, 3 uncles and 4 cousins were all in the Army. I have one cousin that was in the Navy, a lifer, but no one talks to him!!! GO ARMY Quote
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 I had nine uncles on my mother's side of the family, 3 marines, 4 army or army air force, and two master chiefs. Of the 70 cousins, more or less, I really only know about the tunnel rat . GO ARMY! Quote
Calico Mary Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 I had two uncles that were lifers, one Army and one Navy, but both of Buick's parents were Navy, so..... GO NAVY Quote
Subdeacon Joe Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 I hear that the Anthem was well done. I tuned in a few minutes too late to catch it. Quote
Calico Mary Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 us too...turned on the tv just in time for kickoff Quote
Utah Bob #35998 Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Getting a little tired of Lundquist talking about poor Navy playing so many games in a row and getting beat up. Quote
Utah Bob #35998 Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Some have asked about the Army uniforms. The commentstors didn't explain it well. They are an homage the the 82nd Airborne in WWII. Their helmets have the various regimental and batallion markings that were worn during D day and the various regimental crests are on the front of the jerseys. The flag on the sleeve is the type worn on the jump uniforms. The field is to the left. On todays uniforms it's reversed with the field to the right. Quote
Utah Bob #35998 Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Both sides are playing tough right now! Good game. Quote

Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 The field is to the left. On todays uniforms it's reversed with the field to the right. On today's uniform, for flags worn on the right shoulder the field is to the right so that the flag is seen to be advancing, not retreating. Quote

I know it's been more than a few decades since the change, but I still don't care for it. OH! The Invocation and Anthem: OOOPS! That 1st Youtube was last years. Subdeacon Joe Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 A comment from a Navy-heavy group I'm in:" I blame the SecNav, CNO, and the MCPON... After removing Traditional ratings and going with meaningless occupation codes.... Navy thought they were Army and thus lost." Quote
Utah Bob #35998 Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 That is, to sinister. I know it's been more than a few decades since the change, but I still don't care for it. Regardless, it technically comports with the US Flag Code so I'm okay with it. Quote
Utah Bob #35998 Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 OH! The Invocation and Anthem: I was seriously distracted at the 1:45 mark. Quote
