Got this message today :( from CC

Matt has passed away around 4;00 at Kennestone Hospital. As soon as we are aware of the funeral arrangement to be made we will pass the details on to you. Keep his wife, Catherine and rest of the family in prayer.

Sincerely,

Gunnwalker

It is with a sad heart that I have to post this but it is a tribute to one of our own who has gone on to make us a better place. May God be with you Mean Matt McCord and may God bless and be with your family in this time of need. I will see you on the trail some day.

I only knew him from here in the Saloon, but what I knew of him, I liked and respected. Matt, his wife, family and friends have my condolences, and will be in my thoughts and meditations.

Mean Matt McCord was a stand up kind of guy. Always had a cheerful handshake ready for everyone he met. He was a regular around Riverbend and Cherokee for many years. He fought a long battle with cancer and had lost a lot of weight in the last couple of years. We started calling him Lean Matt. He was on my posse at Riverbend on May 3rd. He was not looking so good then as he laid in the shade whenever possible. I'm sorry to hear of his passing and I pray that his family will find peace. He was a Cowboy to the end and he will be missed.

Very sorry to hear this. I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person but I hoped to some day. From his posts here and on Belle Alley, he seemed to portray the Cowboy Way. Prayers up for his family and all that knew him. He will be greatly missed.
