At the stroke of midnight your dope will be legal.

Another reason for me to stay off the roads.

Dude, like ya know, man, like the stoners have like always been like on the road, Man. Chill out....

What is fixin' to happen is the neighboring states (SD, WY, UT, AZ, NM, KS, NE) are going to watch that spike in tax revenue, along with a corresponding savings in enforcement and incarceration costs and the dominoes are going to finally fall one after another.

There is simply no winning the war on drugs any other way.

Yeah it's going to be great. I expect my state income tax will go down at least 50%. Not. This is just like all the other Pollyanna scams. State lotteries. Casinos. They promise the voters that the whopping increase in sales revenues will make everything so much better. I've seen it before.

Hopefully they'll legalize Heroin and Meth next year. Then we'll have a dang paradise goin on here.

Sadly, I think you may be right.

Fence off a 10 square mile of Nevada desert , you want to do drugs, go in and stay as long as you like. Most would probably never come out

Actually, the politicians didn't pass anything. It was the voters (the ones who actually went to the polls) who swallowed the, "This wil be great for state tax revenues and it's no worse than beer and beer is legal, and the cops won't have as much work to do, and marijuana makes you peaceful and creative and besides everybody does it anyway, and the drug cartels will dry up and disappear...." campaign hook, line and, sinker.

Oh well.

I vote to make meth 100% legal. That stuff is deadly to make and use. It'd be great chlorine for the gene pool.

What if they make the stuff right next door to your abode, Charlie?

Not a good neighbor policy in my book.

Sadly, if dope heads want to take the stuff and snuff out an otherwise good life, well, I do not have any good plans

to stop them. Some folks are just too stupid to survive.

If it wasn't a benefit for the politicians, I'm sure it wouldn't have been put up for a vote to legalize it. MT

With such a well thought out plan, how could the Mary Jane laws in Colorado and Warshington not be a good thing?

I mean, like, what could go wrong....?

I am just awaiting the magnum drop in state taxes and an major improvement in schools and law enforcement budgets.

This could be the year!

All it takes is voter's signatures to get on a ballot. The pro weed lobby has a lot of money nationwide and mounted a big campaign to sway folks. (Didn't take much swaying in Boulder of course) Most legislators stayed publicly out of it. The marijuana advocates are now emboldened with the CO and WA successes and are working on other states. Remember the hippie American Flag with the marijuana leaf on it from back in the day? Stay tuned.

And as a side benefit, think of all the people who can be let out of jail now, and have their records expunged of MJ crimes. Major boone for lawyers too ya know.

I know you were, Charlie. I just had to shoot off my mouf with an opinion, I do wonder sometimes about meth labs in private homes.

I worry about terrorist also. Never know when you might find a fire bomb next door. Or am I being paranoid?

Thanks, I didn't follow it completely, just when it came up, and when it passed. MT

Wonder if he ever smoked that cigar that Monica prepared for him.

I heard he gave it to Yasser Arafat... in a meeting just shortly after.

Seriously, get educated...

"In America we have the largest, most secure and effective prison system in the world. Not one of them is drug free." The war on drugs is an abject failure. It is a waste of money and lives.

I've seen Capt Christ before. He is on the board of directors of LEAP Law Enforcement Against Prohibition. He makes valid points about the need for education, treatment, family involvement etc. This is nothing new and virtually no one in law enforcement would disagree. But his views on legalization are based on a frustrating career where assets are used to combat drug offenses and it's never enough. His pro legalization stance is in the minotrity in law enforcement.

I just saw Dr Christian Thurstone from Denver Health on tv. He was saying how they have seen a large increase in addiction since the legalization of medical marijuana here a few years back. It will now get worse. He's particularly concerned about the parents who will have it around. Before the legalization, there were lots of people who might have wantedto try grass. The onlymbarrier, it's illegality, has now been removed. It's now okay for the folks pick up a little Cambodian God on the way home from the PTA meeting. Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's okay.

Legalization seems an easy fix, like rounding up and sending all the aliens back where they came from. Alas both issues are far too complicated for an easy fix.

Christs opinions are his opinions. I disagree with many of them. And I'm a retired captatin too so I guess we cancel each other out. I remain firmly against legalization.

I also know some police captains who think only the police should have firearms. I disagree with them too. :)
