Rancocas
What is your favorite way to drink Rye? Think mine might be: 2 jiggers of Bulleit Rye 1/2 jigger of sweet vermouth 2 dashes of Angostura bitters Stir over ice strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry sit back and watch a good b-western
Eamon Chute
So you like a properly made Manhattan huh? Great choice for a good rye. My favorite ryes are Rittenhouse 100 (a great east Pennsylvania style rye), and Sazarac (a true classic rye). And Bulleit Rye is a wonderful choice as well. And the first two can be had around here for $20. EC

Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
With club soda and a twist is fine for "easy drinking". On the rocks or straight is just fine, too. Good luck, GJ
Pulp, SASS#28319
OK, dumb question time: does rye whiskey taste like rye bread? Would a person that loves a good Rueben Sandwich like rye whiskey?

Would a person that loves a good Rueben Sandwich like rye whiskey? Nope, tastes like bourbon, except not so sweet and a LITTLE taste of pepper to it. No "rye bread" taste at all. Smoother than bourbon to my tongue, too. The ORIGINAL Old West whiskey (other than moonshine)

Smoother than bourbon to my tongue, too. The ORIGINAL Old West whiskey (other than moonshine) I find the same thing. I like it when it gets really cold. Mainly just over ice. BUT it also makes a pretty good mixer with Dr. Pepper.

Utah Bob #35998
First I take a glass and make sure it's clean so there won't be contaminants or anything to interfere with the taste of the impending ingredients. I set the glass on a neutral colored smooth surface, and carefully open the bottle of rye. Keeping a steady hand, I carefully pour 2-3 fingers into the glass. (A measuring glass can be used in lieu of the traditional fingers method if preferred) Then I drink it.

Guest Jess Money
Bulliet goes in the bottle with nothing added. It should come out of the bottle and be drunk in the same fashion.

Rancocas
Birdgun Thank you and have a Happy New Year. As a young boy in the late 40's, me a couple of pals used to go to the neighborhood theater on Saturday afternoon. I like all the heros but my two favorite were Tex Ritter and Rex Bell. we used to boo Charlie King and Glen Strange.
