I'm new to the wire, so I would like to learn the meaning of all the abbreviations that are fling around out there.

Thanks for the help.

The main one on the Classifieds most folks ask about is BTT. That stands for "Back To Top" . You post that so that your ad will move from the bottom of the page back up to the top.

Give some others and we'll tell you what they mean.

SPF - sold pending funds

SAA - Single action army

SxS - side by side

Often people alias's get shorted to the first letter of each word, there by "Grizzly Dave" becomes GD

Thats not what I thought GD stood for J-r

Sometimes I feel like using KMA in a response.

But then I think better of it, and don't.

FWIW - for what it's worth

IIRC - if I recall/remember correctly

BTDT X+ - been there, done that (many times)

BTW - by the way

AFAIK - as far as I know

IAW - in accordance with (referring to the rules)

MODs - modifications (or MODerators)

PWB

ROC - (RO Committee)

Only folks that have been on wire a bit know what BJ stands for. Even has his own web site.

NOT to be confused with (or by) BJT. ;)

How about a breakdown on the acronyms for all the small side groups out there? I see letters used when talking about these other groups (like SBS for Stealth Bullet Society) and even though I’ve been a SASS member and CAS shooter (when I can) for a few years now, I still don’t know what many of them mean.

For example, a recent post that talks about ‘GOTOW’ left me baffled and only after a moment realized it meant “Guns Of The Old West” magazine, and that’s only because I’ve read that magazine more than once. Otherwise, I still might not know.

I still have no idea what GOFWG or WE means, in a thread that’s been going on a long time here on the wire. Going through that thread leaves no clues, either.

My Dad is a Chevy man to him it is... Found On Road Dead.

Had to hand it to him, it made me chuckle.

How about a few more of the firearm abv. I've seen some for a shotgun... its three letters but I'd get them mixed up.

KD Knock Down (target)

The one I was thinking of was something like TTH TTB, something like that. It was a brand of shot gun I believe.

Thank you for the speedy reply though!
