1866 rifle wonderment and my fix…I hope.
Dusty Devil Dale replied to Matthew Duncan's topic in SASS Wire
This particular sock is quite tight. Normally I check the hammer by feel, to be sure it is down, after I slip the rifle inside. Apparently this time I forgot to do that, so it was stored with hammer cocked for nearly 3 months. -

That's the problem. USMC wouldn't dare clean urns. Way to dangerous when Msgt got his cup. -

19 years ago on this weekend EOT 2005 was held at Founders Ranch. It snowed about 1/4" and the Californian's thought it was coming a blizzard.

American Tourist Faces 12 Years for Loose Ammo
John Kloehr replied to Sedalia Dave's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
Once when flying (domestic), my backpack got flagged in X-ray. Turned out to be a wired computer mouse. But they also did a "residue wipe" on the strap. It was positive for "something." After some discussion, figured out it might have been because I had the backpack for lunch and such when a friend introduced me to black powder muzzle loading a few weeks prior to this flight. I was not taken to a room for interrogation or anything but I barely made it to boarding on time. Since it turned out to be trace amounts of explosives residue, no idea why they asked a bunch of drug questions. I do hear Mexico has no sense of humor on spent casings; went there once years ago and no particular reason to go again. For some reason, the populace is basically disarmed while the police travel in groups and packs with AR15s. Apparently so do the criminals. Yet law-abiding citizens go unarmed. -
From the description of the guy on ebay, he leaves the primer hole open which sounds like it would serve your purpose.

Why I don't workout as often
Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 replied to Father Kit Cool Gun Garth's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
Since I retired and found out that with Medicare Advantage I get free gym membership, I started working out. I hadn't done so since I got out of The Marines, 31 years previously. I started working out three days a week, then spread it out to five. Upper body Mon, Wed, Friday, legs Tues and Thursday. After a couple months of that, I decided to cut it down to Mon, Wed, and Friday, and just work everything those days. My workout has changed, but I still stick to that schedule. As a young Marine, I PTed nearly every day. And I drank nearly every night. I can't do either anymore. Now here's the really interesting part. I've met some other Old Guys at the gym, and my social life is better that it has ever been. I've actually got friends now. After we finish our workout, we sit and watch the women that are there, with the occasional "If I were twenty years younger" added in to the conversation, even though most of us are happily married and would NOT break that Vow. We talk politics: we've actually solved many of the world's problems, if only "THEY" would listen to us. We go shooting, which I haven't done as much as I would have liked to do in years, and we've formed our own Grumpy Lunch Bunch, (yes, I stole the name from the Bunch here). All in all I have to say that the gym has been good for me, even if I haven't lost any weight, (I've actually GAINED weight), I HAVE added muscle and friends. I may be broke, but I'm, happier than I have been in years. -

So far, good luck with Kirkland and Duracell though my primary flashlights use Surefire or Surefire rechargeable. The rechargeable have been great. - Today

I wore a small neck knife for that purpose; fit the outfit/character as well! -
Whatever it is, it's likely a cut down, cold weather military rifle. That's judging from the large trigger guard. Also, probably illegal under the NFA.

Should I call them about the guarantee?
Alpo replied to Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
I bought a package of Members Mark. That is Sam's club store brand. It said they were good for 10 years. I went to get a new battery out of the package and discovered that about eight of them had dumped. So I take the package back to Sam's and tell them that I would like my money back. The lady at returns asked me how long I had had them. I said that they had been purchased after the hurricane (it's amazing, you can live through hurricane after hurricane after hurricane, but once you go through a category 5 it forever after is THE HURRICANE) which was in October of 17 so that had been about 2 years. She told me that they did not give refunds on something you had had longer than 9 months. Now if these had been Eveready batteries (which they also sell) I would have gotten in touch with Eveready, but I had no place else to go to for Members Mark. I was quite annoyed that they sell something guaranteed for 10 years but they will not refund your money after 9 months. That's almost enough to make you quit buying store brand merchandise. Or at least Members Mark merchandise. -
