Okay, so I was able to get one in my paws at a local gun shop the other day. Honestly, if I'd brought more money along, I'd have left with it. Action was very smooth, barrels dropped right open, safety was completely independent of any cocking or firing action, the hammers were very light and easy to cock one handed with what I call the "reverse karate chop", and the finish was surprisingly well done. In my opinion, it did not feel nor operate anywhere near what popped into my head when I heard "heritage hammered double", which frankly evinced ideas of the type of fit and finish you've all seen in the rough rider, which, let's be honest feel cheap, clunky, and rough. I plan on picking one up and getting the usual cowboy action job done on it, and put it through the field test. I wish the hammer ears were a tad longer, but if that's the worst it offers, I think it'll find a home for a lot of price conscious cowboys. Hope that helps outc anyone looking!
