My Arsenal is almost complete!

After having been to a few rounds of Cowboy Action Shooting, I began to build my arsenal to be able to participate myself. I am almost done, all that’s left is to fit the .45 ACP. Kirst conversion cylinders in my pistols and replace the soft Italian screws in the 1873.

-Uberti 1858 Remington

-Winchester 1897 (from 1917!)

Nice, great way to start!

Just a heads up...'cause you're going to hear it, ad nauseam, over and over.

The choke on the '97 is not legal. If it is easily removable, take it off before the match. If not, go to the match anyway. No one is gonna sweat the choke, you'll have fun, may even get some help removing the choke.

Nice looking guns.   There is something enjoyable out mismatched pistols.   But both of those can be converted to .45 Colt so you can run the same as in your rifle.   You don't have to go the ACP route, unless you want to, of course.   I have heard it's possible modify the 73 for use with the ACP round though, if you are so inclined.

I love a long barreled shotgun.   Don't like those weird old variable chokes, I don't like the look.   But personally, I'd not cut it off.   It may not be original, but it's an old timey mod, gives your gun some character.  If anyone give you grief about it, which I doubt will happen unless you are at a state or above level match, I seem remember that they can be screwed off and still fired without causing damage due to it's lack.   But don't quote me on that assumption.   In any case, happy shooting!

Oh, I almost forgot...   I too have a sabre like you mentioned.   I wore it to one match and took it off after the first stage.  IT was getting in the way!

There are no such thing as "Style Points"... (at least as reflected in the score sheets)!   Otherwise, I'd be shooting my Patersons more often!

My ammo cabinet is bigger than my refrigerator. My lady and I have his and hers safes. The fridge is bigger than either safe, but both together are bigger than the fridge.

Probably need a filled deer-size freezer in the garage to properly complete our redneck transition. My pronouns will then be he'n and his'n, my lady will be she'n and her'n. Together we will be we-un's

A saber might look good walking around dressed in a military uniform but not at all conducive to shooting a stage safely.

Wondering where a 12’x15’ walk-in vault fits on this “redneck” scale.  🤔

20' long (max) by 8' wide (max) prefab delivered by dually pickup truck on a trailer to your property and set on cinder blocks. No special transport permits required.

You can kinda live in one short term, as long as it isn't too hot or cold, but they sure aren't secure.  Mice can be an issue, even for the better ones.

Probably fits semi-rich better than Redneck.  Vaulting expectations!

More lucky with deals over 4 decades than rich.  Most gone now due to one heck of a gun salesman in office a while back.

But back to the OP.  That’s a great start but be aware of a good chance that the collection will grow.

So you agree this is redneck. Add power from a construction pole for a window-mount AC. Insulation, sheetrock, and "luxury vinyl flooring" on credit from Home Depot. Refill 5 gallon water jugs from the machine at the grocery store. Johnny-on-the-spot. Don't need no stinking permits until filing architectural plans septic permit, and well permit with the county. That could be years from now.

On edit: Do need to adopt a confirmed mouser kitten or two. A Staffordshire Terrier is also not a bd idea for security, though folks around here improperly call the breed Pit Bull.

These units in little clusters are springing up all over. I suppose folks are bringing in family that is having hard times elsewhere.  Out here, the County Sanitarian has to approve the septic, or I think to this day, outhouse.  The well driller has to be certified and can submit paperwork on a residential well.  There are folks who have no way to affordably reach water with a well.  Some have catchment systems, others buy water, via tanker and a cistern.

Some need to add cisterns for low-yield wells. Drilling around where I am is a bit of a crapshoot. Also well has to be 50' from septic, and septic requires "reserve." This basically means having enough land to duplicate it in the future.

It used to be that the tax assessor was the most hated man in my county, but for the last 25 years, it has been the building inspector. There were no codes here until then.

Depends on the size of the safes!

I have found that the bigger safes are too hard to get into the house and move them around, and too heavy to get up and down the stairs.   I won't get anything bigger than an average sized refridgerator.   Probably a little smaller.   Each one holds about 20-24 long guns.  I have 8...

My thought was if three grown men with dolly’s take many hours to get it into the house then a burglar isn’t going to be getting it out very quickly, particularly given it’s bolted to the floor and the wall as well as having thousands of bullets and a bunch of guns in it.

No gun collection is every complete.  A full gun safe is a great thing!  If left alone, guns breed and create baby guns every 24 weeks.  And finally... you might be a Redneck if your gun safe is larger than your refrigerator......Nice collection!

At least he didn't call them...weapons...

Safes kinda suck. Like putting family heirlooms in a box and storying it in the attic.

Bullet proof a room and make it your Gun Room.

I was going to do exactly that when we finished the basement but the bos…excuse me, Sharyn said that was going to be her exercise room, so that was the end of that.

Build nice wall displays...more than enough room for the exercise equipment. And in a few month the exercise equipment will be donated and yer good.

That's my theory as well. For what it took to get mine in the basement and raised up on PT 6x6s and bolted. A theif will need many hours to get it back out of they find it behind my false wall. However, it wouldn't take long with an angle grinder to cut the front around the door and get the contents. Maybe!! As a couple of locking rods are long and ya can't get to the edge without removing a bunch of blind screwed lumber!

Making things "safe" is pretty easy...so long as one recognizes that they don't need to make their things safe against an "Ocean's Eleven" group.
