Sedalia Dave
While this is good news for states like Texas and Idaho. It also means that states like California, Washington, and Oregon are only going to get worse. Thousands of blue state residents flock to Idaho, bringing conservative politics with them: Thousands of conservative-leaning Washington residents fled the deep blue state for neigboring Idaho, voter data published by the Gem State shows. Data published by the Idaho Secretary of State’s office shows that out of the nearly 119,000 people who recently moved to the state, 65% registered as Republicans, compared to just 12% registering as Democrats. The data, which was reviewed by Fox News Digital, show that out of the roughly 20,000 Americans who moved from Washington state to Idaho, 62% registered as Republicans, compared to 12% as Democrats, 24% as unaffiliated and 2% as "other." The percentage of registered Republicans originally from Washington who recently moved to Idaho is actually higher than the state’s overall percentage of registered Republicans, which sits at about 58%. "We weren't surprised to find that Republicans are moving to Idaho. However, we were surprised to see just how overwhelming it was. Of those moving to Idaho, the majority of voters from 48 out of the 49 other states are Republican," Republican Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane told Fox News Digital. "That said, it shouldn't be a shock that conservatives would be attracted to Idaho's robust economy, business-friendly environment, and strong conservative values. Idaho has become a destination for those who embrace the values and quality of life that define our great state," McGrane added. The data comes as a handful of expensive and liberal states, such as California and New York, have, since the pandemic, seen an exodus of residents who have moved to states like Florida and Texas. Speculations and concern have mounted that state migration changes could lead to blue state voters bringing their politics to red states. The Idaho data, however, show right-leaning voters from blue states are fleeing to a state with similar politics. Idaho Republicans control the state’s offices of the governor, secretary of state, and both chambers of the state legislature. The Seattle Times noted that real estate ads advise residents in states such as Washington to "escape liberal hell" and move to Idaho. "Time is not on your side, flee the city NOW before the coming collapse!" another ad for a house listing in Idaho states, the outlet reported. Conservative-leaning Washingtonians are not the only demographic moving to Idaho, with the voter data showing Republican Californians also fled to the red state. Out of the nearly 40,000 people who left California for Idaho, a whopping 75% registered as Republicans, the data reviewed by Fox News Digital show. Only 10% of the California pool registered as Democrats, 14% as unaffiliated and 2% as "other." California has become the poster child state for resident migration, with more than 340,000 people fleeing the state between 2021 and 2022 alone. The Golden State has seen a handful of celebrities and notable businesses also flee since the pandemic, including Rod Stewart, Hillary Swank and Elon Musk’s Tesla. Before the pandemic, California averaged less than 200,000 residents a year who moved to other states, the San Francisco Chronicle previously reported. The voter data out of Idaho also found the majority of Americans who moved from Oregon to the Gem State registered as Republicans. Just over 9,000 Oregonians moved to Idaho in recent years, 65% of whom registered as Republicans, 14% as Democrats and 19% as unaffiliated. Gungadin
Too many are blue people that don't understand the root cause of why they are fleeing..... So like Irish Ike observes the states will get bluer. Austin is blue? College and a City..... I believe Stalin had a quote about Capitalism and Communism moving towards socialism. But he has another quote that says socialism is a precursor to communism. The problem occured when the elected decided it was good policy to let the electorate vote for their benefits in order to get reelected. A chicken in every pot, minimum wage, SS, healthcare etc etc. And that as an american or even an illegal alien you are entitled. I see a long trend towards socialism here. We seem to destroy opportunity and work ethic by rewarding bad behaviors and punishing performers. People from other countries come here and appreciate the opportunities but we seem to destroy that attitude quickly.

bgavin
Being a native son of Idaho, I have seen the consequences of the influx of blue state money. Boise is now the poster child for bums, crime, drugs, congestion, traffic and sky high housing costs. As a kid in the 60s, I remember the vitriol expressed toward Californians who came in with Big Money and bought up all the lake front properties and priced out the locals. The west Boise commute to Meridian is now one of the worst in the nation. Multiple helicopter traffic services fly the skies daily. The Idaho panhandle used to be the refuge of conservatives. Today it has a huge number of Democrat votes in the last election, and sky high real estate prices. This of course makes the Property Tax Collector gleefully happy. Boise has torn down most of its stately architecture and replaced it with parking lots, bland multi-story building and high density housing. 59% of Boise voted for Biden compared to 37% for Trump. Pat Riot
Remember, we do live in a country where it’s every citizen’s right to move wherever they wish. It wasn’t called the United States of America for nothing. In my many moves I have encountered people that didn’t want me where I was, and that includes California. Regardless of your views on politics, religion, race, wealth, etc. citizens have every right to be where they want to be in these United States. AZ had a huge influx into the state, mostly near Phoenix because 2 really big financial institutions / companies moved from Seattle bringing thousands of Seattle type voters with them. The same thing happened to Charlotte NC. Bank of America and Wachovia moved their headquarters from NYC to Charlotte and brought thousands of New Yorkers and Bostonians to Charlotte. This move changed politics in Charlotte-Mecklenburg County in a few years. Within a decade North Carolina went from Red to Blue.
Phantom Falcon, SASS # 46139
Kalifornicators and damnyankees have turned AZ from bright red to dark blue. Our 2 senators and my congressman, Raul Grijalva are downright communists. Mark Kelly is a total hypocrite; he's a retired Navy Captain, yet he goes along with all of biden's stupid ass ideas for the military. Actually he goes along with all of biden's stupid ass ideas. Inasmuch as 12% of my earned income yearly for 50 years went to Social Security, off the top before income tax, I don't consider it 'socialism'. In fact, it pays benefits in proportion to how much you paid into it. You are 'entitled' to SS-- if you paid into it and to the extent you did. And it is certainly not a disincentive to work-- just the opposite.
Red Gauntlet , SASS 60619
I'm about 6 blocks from Puget Sound and an hour or so from the Cascade mountains. Been here since I was born in 1948. Dad and granddad before me. Five kids, 12 grandkids, their spouses, and four great-grands-- all within a few miles, many within a few blocks. Ain't going anywhere. Idaho is a beautiful place, but has no salt water. If I were going to move to Idaho, I would have done it 30 years ago. Like bgavin says: It's too late. Stand your ground. To a degree you are right about SS but look into it some more and you will find out it has been significantly expanded and many do not pay in and I suspect few will ever get what they paid in with any time value of money. Then at some point we have the option of getting means tested out. Read the fine print on my SS Report. Basically it says what we just told you you will get may change ie. don't count on it. So in the future some that paid a lot in could find out they are means tested out....not entitled. And it is socialism because while paying in more gets you more the ratios benefit those that pay in less. The joke goes that when SS started 10 people paid for one recipient, then it was 5 to one, then 2. When it gets to 1 paying for 1 what happens when my person dies?
