Ringer Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Today is the Duke's birthday. What was your favorite Duke cowboy movie? I guess The Searchers would be mine.
Lucky Lead Pepper Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Hard to call just one a favorite. I guess my top 5 would be: The Searchers, Rio Bravo, Hondo, Fort Apache, and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon.
Tequila Shooter Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Rio Bravo, Hellfighters, The Fighting Seabees, The Alamo, just to name a few.
Cypress Sun Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 The Conqueror. Agnus Moorehead was hot in that movie!
Abilene, SASS # 27489 Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 I was working in the Cimarron/Texas Jack tent at Mule Camp some years ago, and John Wayne's birthday was on one of the shoot days. We had a Chiappa big-loop '92 on the table, and I thought for sure it would draw some interest as a result, but nobody paid any attention. I think my favorite is True Grit.
Yazoo City Gal Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 He won me over with True Grit. I liked him old and mean. Fill your hands you...
Will Kane Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Did y’all know John Wayne, Jay Silverheels and James Arness all share the same birthday?

Stony Lane Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 I try to watch 3 or 4 of his movies a week. I like them all but love anything from the 50s, 60s or 70s.

I am in Iowa now for state shoot and came a day early so I could go to his museum and birthplace tomorrow. CPK is going to meet me and we are going there together. Happy Birthday Duke.
watab kid Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 back before the centennial celebrations i was with an architectural firm that worked up restorations for the winterset town square - back to how it looked in 1876 , i loved that town , and all 7 of the bridges of madison county that a family friend wrote a book about , im sure much has changed since then but it was a fond part of my life
