Utah Bob #35998 Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 We lost another comrade from our VFW post last weekend. Doug Stowe, former Huey pilot with the 281st Assault Helicopter Company. Doug’s unit flew support for the 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam, taking teams out to bad places and bringing them back. He returned to Dove Creek after coming back to the world and was a rancher and farmer for years. A county commission chairman and much loved and respected member of our community. He will be missed. We are fading away at a rapid rate.
Go West Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 I played taps for 54 servicemen from sophomore through senior high school years. This was in a small Illinois town. WWII, Korea and Viet Nam primarily.
Four-Eyed Buck,SASS #14795 Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Seems like the rate is going faster now a days
Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Bob, the time is coming when we will be joining them. I went to 'Nam the first time when I was barely 24. I just turned 79.
Bugler Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Would have been honored to sound TAPS on his behalf......I do so 4-5 times a week here in Billings Montana. Bugler
