Similar to Regular Play versus Match Play in golf. Two different games played with the same basic equipment and rules. There is NO right or wrong, NO better or worse, just preference. Total Time is a more accurate way to measure performance in this game we have today. RRR Never could understand how anybody could shoot slower, not shoot some stages, and still win a match. Might as well just pull badges out of a hat to determine placement. Yea kinda like having 1 or 2 shooters in a category... might as well put the awards in the shooters packet So... if ya use two different scoring methods and the same shooter wins... then by GOD its meant to be!! If this debate was to be decided by logic or data analysis, it would have been decided long ago. Everyone just seems to be offering their opinion on why their preference is best or more fairer. Rank Points and Total Time are just two different games. Some prefer one game and some prefer the other game. Local Clubs have a choice on which game they play. SASS Regional and above Matches play only one game - Rank Points. That is the Wild Bunch's preference ! As most issues in life are about preference, human agreement is hard to reach. Blastmaster Posted January 29, 2011 Share Posted January 29, 2011 At the end of the match and I can see all the times,,,,,, I personally use which ever scoring system that puts me up the highest on the list. Which list? Sometimes that is the challenge to figure out which list. Some times I have to use all my raw times per stages against the other shooters accumulated time to come out ahead. Some times I have to mentally switch classes and then compare to come out ahead in one of the 2o some catagories. All I need is a 10th place shingle board to be happy. I will even let the other person take home the price. Packing that extra award home just cuts down my gas mileage when I go home and my roof has all the shingles it needs. Don't need any more.
