Dacotua Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I stopped going to gun shows. I've noticed that many gunshow dealers use "gunshows" as a reason to inflate their prices of their guns. Like most of you have said, before I quit going to them, nearly 1/3 to 1/2 of the floor space was "art" or swap meet style items (not gun related). To boot, they kept increasing the "cover charge" to get into the gun shows. Its just flat out cheaper now to just buy guns online and have them sent to your FFL. Heck, one of the last gunshows I went to, I compared the prices of the guns I wanted to Cabelas. Cabelas was either the same price or cheaper. Quote

In states like this, if you do much gun buying it can be worth it to have the license even if you don't carry. 2 Quote
Griff Posted January 28 Posted January 28 It's why when my agent calls me & asks if I'd like a load to CA, IL, NJ, NY, or points north & east, I tell her. "nope, I'm not leaving the US." 3 Quote

"Sorry, it's not Mass compliant." Why do dealers bring things to a gunshow in Massachusetts that they can't sell? I am thinking they were shown as attention getters! Down here in FL, those examples would have been “Not for sale”, instead of not compliant. Still irritating. Quote
Diego Kid #4631 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 In South Dakota, with a permit, fill out the paperwork and that's it. No call to the atf. Quote

My ATF cousin says a call in is required . It depends on the state . In Mi I used to be able to just use my CPL and no background check was required. Then the state did something that the feds didn’t like . I don’t remember if it was a reporting issue or maybe when the state legalized weed . But now we’re required to do the background check even if we have a cpl . 1 Quote
H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Posted January 31 Author Posted January 31 Interesting. I guess the Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms does not qualify. I have never had a local FFL not call it in. Maybe I'll ask about it next time I buy a gun. Quote
Eyesa Horg Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Back when I lived in Connecticut until 2006, I never had a check called in after I got CC permit. Still had to fill out the 4473 obviously. Now that it's become Communisticut, I don't know. No permits here in Vermont, so it always gets called in. Got to listen in the last time and was surprised they don't ask for the serial number. Only long gun or hand gun. Now we have the 72 hour wait and LGSs are held to the minute from what I've seen. It's ok though apparently, a right delayed isn't a right denied according to those had an oath to uphold the Constitution. 1 Quote

Same problem here in California.....They have there list of what they like......Not on the list, can not buy it new here.....But if someone lived some where else and came here to live....Then I can buy it in private party transfer.... Pat Riot Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Living in CA and dealing with their DOJ silliness and everything else then leaving there and coming to West Virginia is like…Freedom! Last Saturday I went to a gun show at the Nat’l Guard Armory in Clarksburg. I walked in, sold a gun then walked up the aisle and bought a gun all in the span of about 10 minutes. I gave the seller money, my license and CCW and filled out a 4473 and I was done. Years ago when I lived in CA gun show dealers would display guns not legal to buy in CA. At some point that became “illegal” and that practice ended. I think it was when Moonbeam was in office in 2012. Quote
