Major Art Tillery Posted July 15, 2023 Share Posted July 15, 2023 (edited) CLASSIC COWBOY/COWGIRL SHOWDOWN 2024 2024 will bring about the 8th Classic Cowboy/Cowgirl Showdown! The "Showdown" is a competition meant to bring together as many classics as possible to an annual event. Sometimes we take it on the road, with another club hosting us at their annual event... Every other year it is back home at Butterfield Gulch Gang out side Chapman, Ks. We consider the Showdown a "match within a match"... and recognize some special Classic Categories (TBD) Over the past years we have had some great awards, ranging from buckles, conchos, scarf slides, and whiskey! All these awards have been donated by myself and some of the best Pards a fella could ask for! They pitch in when they can, and I honestly couldn't have done this without them! (THANK YOU ALL!) If anybody would like to help out with the Showdown, just give me a holler and we will see what we can come up with! We have had several great turnouts in the years past, 20+ classics at many events.... But have not quite hit my goal of 30+ yet! Let's make 2024 the year! You could have a sub category within your awards but to be compliant with SASS rules shooting revolvers anyone shooting your sub-category would have to enter the match as a Gunfighter. Major always offers sub categories that the Classics pony up award money for. That is correct, as far as the club awards are concerned they would have to sign up as Gunfighter Category. But for the Showdown they would be shooting for the classic Cowboy BP Gunfighter Buckle.
