H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619
I have always thought that the Colt New Frontier was an interesting looking revolver. And for some reason, I've always associated .44 Special with the model. (I have learned that it's actually not that common a caliber.) Anyway, I finally found one! A .44 Special NF, Second Generation, for LESS than $2000! Needless to say, it is now mine. No box, but I don't think it's ever been fired.

Three Foot Johnson
I bought one in .45 back around '79. IIRC, the price was $375, new. Sold it 35-40 years ago.

Oddnews SASS# 24779
Nice one. I've always shared your basic outlook, and .44 Special would be my first choice in one of them.
Warden Callaway
About a month ago the local toy store had two 7.5 NF in 45Colt. One at $1,200 no box or papers. Some slight edge wear at muzzle, etc. Problem was the front sight had been filled down until blade was almost gone. The other was said to be NIB and was in display cabinet. I didn't ask anything about it. $1,800 as I remember. Edited December 22, 2022 by Warden Callaway

Dusty Sights, SASS # 2782
Thats a shame what was done to that front sight in the photo above. It must have been shooting waaaay low to have been filed down so much.
Nimble Fingers SASS# 25439
My first Colt was a NF in .44 Spcl with a 5.5” barrel. It is currently carrying a nickel plated 12” Buntline barrel. I also got one in 7.5” as the one in the picture above! Love both of them.
Maddog McCoy SASS #5672
I have a pair of them in 44spl with 5 1/2 inch barrels. I bought the first on in 1998 and the second one in 1999. I gave $995 for one and $1000 for the other and have been using them as my main match guns for many years and they have never let me down. I would hate to have to try replace either of them as it took over a year to find them 20 years ago. Great guns, I have seen a few in 44spl with 4 3/4 barrels and 7 1/2 barrels were the most common when I was looking for them. I have seen some in 45lc, and a few in 357. I have only seen one or 2 for sale in 357. One was a second generation Colt.
Abilene, SASS # 27489
I guess I'm a little surprised that 44 Spcl wasn't the most made caliber for the NF, as most that I have seen over the years were that caliber.
