When I see kids thumbing their devices, I usually get aimless stare from them when I say, "You know? In the old days we could talk on those things."

She uses a walker or a wheelchair, so I can likely out run her.

But I do sleep with one eye open and keep my guns locked up.

Well, ya might grease up a fly accidentally and then he'll be able to get away from the fly paper.

But yer right, they need to get rid of those confusing grams and give the size in american numbers so folks can tell the difference.

You have no idea how sensitive a statement that is to me.

I was on the Conversion Committee at the time and fought against the switch.

Got labeled an obstructionist.

First off, was that a national committee?  Cause that would be pretty cool.  How were you selected?

Second, Canadians just aint as good at obstructing as USians.  When you saw you were losing, you should have proposed a compromise measurement standard of some sort.  Committees love compromises.  Too bad you didn't have me as a resource back then.  We might have had 5 canadian kilofeet being equal to a mile.

City of Ottawa staffer, working on it at the municipal level, then seconded on to a sub-committee to the National.

I think the City Treasurer and the Director of Supply nominated me for the National sub-committee.

As for compromise, when we worked on the paper and fine paper file, and, thanks to the Pulp & Paper Institute reps and the ones from the printer and copier industry, we managed to get paper on a "soft" conversion, as opposed to the "hard" conversion being pushed by some members.

You may also notice that many of the "Metric" weights and measurements are within the adjustment ranges of existing equipment.

My tiny voice was just one of many on the entire conversion program.

Remember - fall season is on it’s way!  Here’s a reminder!  Goes well with that special autumn latte!
