Big Sage, SASS #49891 Life
Been suffering with 2 bad shoulders for several years. Finally got to the point of replacing my left shoulder. It is scheduled for late this month. My ortho surgeon wanted a better look at the joint so I had a c scan Tuesday. Damage much greater than expected and a bone graft is needed and he doesn't do them. I am being referred to a specialist that does replacement surgeries and bone grafts. I am waiting for a new date for the replacement surgery. Bad thing is the other shoulder is just as bad! Looks like I'll be laid up and away from shooting for longer than I thought. DAMMIT..DAMMIT!

Noz
Brush up on your RO skills. I found that when I was sidelined with eye surgery taking on RO duties allowed me to be around my friends in the cowboy world even if I could not shoot.

Willy B.SASS#26902
Morning Big Sage Sorry to hear this I was looking forward to seeing you in Yuma this year. Hang in there and behave yourself and maybe you'll be up and running by the revenge, Take care and I'll see you down the road. Willy B' P.S. Caught a 25 pound yellowfin last Thursday on the nine mile bank, It's probably the last as the waters starting to cool down were going into the fall mode fast. Sounds good...I just got from my antelope hunt. Got my buck opening afternoon. Shoulders are killing me now. Riding around on my quad was brutal! Depending on my schedule (everything up in the air now), I might go to Yuma and just drink beer and harass everyone.
Pat Riot
Big Sage, take it from me. Do what the Doc says regarding rehab. Don't push it. I had some surgery done to my left shoulder, I'm a righty, 4 years ago. After a month I took the brace off (supposed to use it for 6 weeks). I was unlodaing groceries with my wife, forgot about my shoulder, and snatched a falling bag of canned goods with my left hand. Re-injured my shoulder and the Doc had to go back in and take out ALL the cartilage. The Doc didn't have a lot to work with in the first place as I had torn it up so bad over the years. Good luck to you and please follow the doctor's instructions. I cannot shoot weak handed with a rifle or shotgun any more.
Big Sage, SASS #49891 Life
I am doing both, one after the other. I am a natural righty, but shoot long guns lefty because of my eyes. Doing the left shoulder first, so it will have the longest time to heal. I shoot gunfighter, so I use both for pistols.

Linn Keller, SASS 27332, BOLD 103
Blackwater & Pat Riot speak truly with their advice, to which I will add: When you go for PT, take your pain meds, THEN go. It takes oral meds on average a half hour to start working. Do NOT!!! wait until you're hurtin' to ask for that pain pill! (Been a nurse 23 years now and seen this work many many times!) Thanks for the advice. I've been thru PT several times as I got a replacement knee 14 years ago and an ankle replacement 18 months ago. With my shoulders as bad as they are, I've taken prescription pain meds for several years also. I want to get these shoulders fixed and had a surgery date in 2 weeks, but now I need to go to a different surgeon whom I have never seen. I am just unhappy with this setback!
