H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619
Well, as I was taking my laundry out of the dryer, I discovered a loose .32-20 case. It musta been in the pocket of my pants. Anyway, it was nice and shiny after going through the laundry. I wonder if this would be a viable way to clean brass in bulk?
Cpt Dan Blodgett, SASS #75655
If you want to loose your house car guns and most of your money go for it. This assumes you are married temporarily as if you are caught you will not be. 1

Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
Cleaning brass in the laundry is not proper lead oxide contamination removal. It's more like a lead transfer to clothes that you will then wear and spread dust around the house, vehicles and other places. Or are you suggesting a separate laundry machine just for washing brass with a bunch of old rags thrown in for agitation purposes? It means your wife is going to kill you and THEN divorce you to boot if you use the washer and dryer to clean brass. If you really want to do brass, use the dishwasher...she'll never look in there. 6
G W Wade
Not the same BUT a friend got caught running a deer skull thru his wife's dishwasher. End result was the same LOL GW P.S. Carrying them in your pants pocket shines them up too

H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619
A few things... 1. I did say this was an accident. 2. I thought it would be obvious that I being facetious about this, especially with the big goofy smiley at the end of my comments. So, please, this was not a serious suggestion. Just a somewhat humorous anecdote. Ah, the limitations of text on context and meaning. 1
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
Well there you go. In the context of the original post I thought the smiley was because you were happy you had found a new way to clean brass.

GJ Oh, I'm fair certain sure that running the brass through the regular laundry machines would be PLENTY agitating, even without rags. Until they're all cramed under the agitator! That's when the boss will find the ones you missed or drop on the floor and don't notice.

That's when the boss will find the ones you missed or drop on the floor and don't notice. Put all the brass in some pillow cases. If you use the embroidered ones the threads on the inside help by adding an abrasive component to the 800 count cotton. 3

Pat Riot
I learned my lesson nearly 20 years ago when I tried to dry out bags of desiccant in the oven. How was I to know the outer bag was weaved plastic, not weaved cotton? The smell was awful and desiccant beads were everywhere inside the oven. Some made into the broiler. Cleaning it was a b****! My wife was not amused.

Cypress Sun
Got caught heating up a shotgun barrel in the oven once during a re-bluing process. My ex didn't stay gone as long as she said she was going to, came back and asked why the racks were out of the oven. I sounded like Biden in the debate, so she looked...not a happy camper.

Just do it when you plan to give the tub a good scrub down anyway. Although, I found that the "scrubbing bubbles" type cleaners do a very good job of getting rid of the residue without much effort.
