Sedalia Dave Posted March 14 Share Posted March 14 Does anybody remember the Omega navigation system? It was incredibly accurate but it could not determine where you were. You had to tell it where you were at initialization. Even after the system was decommissioned, I knew a lot of navigators used the computer in dead reckoning mode as a backup to GPS aided INS. Funny thing is if you put in the wrong coordinates it would tell you those were the wrong initialization coordinates. However, it still wasn't able to determine where it was.
