My turn to seek out the Prayer Posse

Recommended Posts

I just talked to Schoolmarm on the phone.  She’s finished her first therapy session and had breakfast.  One of her doctors paid her a visit and told her that she still needs to drink more water/juice.  Her numbers continue to improve. The therapist had her make up her bed and walk the hallways.

She’s starting to get charged up and she’s definitely eating better.  She says that they plan to keep her at least the rest of the week.

I am waiting on my doctor to get here and check me over. They’re bringing in an infestations specialist to see what antibiotic scheme is needed to finish up my treatment.  I still have another surgery to go through, so it ain’t over yet.

My doctor paid me a visit just a little before 4 o’clock. She unwrapped my foot and examined it closely. From what I could see it looked a lot better. She told me that they had cleaned everything up and that they were able to close all but one 1/2 cm section of the incision. This means that I will not have to have another surgery for now.

I also met with the Infections specialist. He was the one who got me through the really bad septic episode back in 2019 2020.  He and the foot doctor will collaborate on a treatment plan for the antibiotics.

If all goes well, I will get to go home tomorrow!!

School mom had another good day. The therapist even had her making up her own bed. Her doctor says that they will probably keep her in rehab for the rest of the week. She may get to go home the first of next week.

She sounds really good, and seems to be steadily improving.

Yeah, all good news today!!!

That funny cackle in the distance was me laughing at your description of the Rubber Chicken Sandwich and other food related comments. Yep, used to work in a Horse Pistol, and you're absolutely right, it's that bad!

Still standing up on my knees for the both of you and for Imis as well.

Never thought of using Vegemite for a rubber patch.

Buddy of mine said he used to spread Vegemite on the footbed of his Teva sandals to keep them from smelling bad, something about the acidity in the spread. I asked him if he'd ever heard of soap and water and a scrub brush. He threw one of 'em at me (not the one with Vegemite!)

I’m still sitting in the hospital, waiting for SOMEONE to come to some kind of decision!!  :lol:They checked my blood pressure while ago, about a minute after they delivered my, (I shudder to think anyone would call that excrement food) breakfast and it was 189 over 127!!   It DID go down after I cooled off some.

I’m far less than happy with my situation at the moment, but still hopeful that I will finally get to go home today.

MUCH BETTER NEWS!!  They had a meeting yesterday to decide on further treatment and therapy for Schoolmarm!!  She’s going to get to go home on Monday morning, sometime between nine and noon!!

That's really good news on Schoolmarm.

Prayers to continue for you both, sure hope you get out of there soon and healed up. I guess we are lucky, if ya wanna call it that, here at Dartmouth Healthcare. The food is actually pretty darn good. When I was in with Ellie over Xmas 22, they served patients and visitors a superb prime rib dinner, same at Thanksgiving this year except it was turkey with all the fixings! Sorry your food so sucks, good food is helpful in healing in my opinion. Get well soon Pards and get home to Schoolmarm and good eats.

The good news is that I still haven’t bitten anyone’s head off!

The better news is that the infections doctor finally showed up a little while ago. He’s decided to have me on an oral antibiotic to treat the remaining infection.

The best news, for the moment, is that I will get to go home in the next few hours!!

It remains to be determined what immediate treatment I will have to get on the foot itself.

Hopefully, I will hear from the foot doctor in an hour or so!

Now by golly this is good news and thank you for passing it along!

Many's the time I've seen people benefit from being back under their own roof!

(Among other things ... the company's generally better, the cookin' is almost always better and the beds are more comfortable!)

I don't frequent the wire so I'm just now learning of this. So sorry for all you've both been through. Prayers for you and Schoolmarm for continued improvement and complete healing my friend.

WELL!!  I’m home!!  They let me go about 4:00 this afternoon.  My meds were ready at the pharmacy and Hatfield took me to get a couple of things to eat and we were here by 6:00pm!!

The foot specialist got to the hospital just as they finished my release paperwork and she changed the bandages and set me up for follow up visits to keep it healthy and healing properly.

I still have a good ways to go to get “back on my feet”, but I feel like the road is shorter now than it has been!!

We’re gettin’ closer, folks!! Y’all have helped more than you can imagine!!

Hugs for BOTH OF YA!

Imis is well on his way!  He visited at Wartrace for the monthly match last Saturday and is steadily getting

better!

I text or talk with him daily and he says he’s getting ready for Kentucky State and Tennessee State!

I am improving well, can get into and out of Jersey Bratt's Kia Soul with little issue. I often wander off through the house without my cane, then have to go find it. I am greatly relieved about BW amd Schoolmarm.

Thanks everybody for thinking of my friends and I

I got Hatfield to load my knee scooter in and out of the car this morning to make a trip to see my doctor!  All good! She changed the bandages and arranged for “home health” to see me next Monday and Friday with another office visit next Wednesday!  Plans are to put a final couple of stitches in the foot the following week!

I dropped Hatfield off at the house and went to visit Schoolmarm at her hospital.  The valet service got me out of the car and back in when I left.

She was between rehab sessions and was resting up for the next round.  Her numbers all took another forward step in the last day or so and she’s looking, sounding, and moving pretty good!

back at the house now and fixing to have myself some breakfast and an antibiotic pill!!

Purty good day, so far!!  I figured y’all would want to know!!  Keep it up!  What you’re doing is awesome!!
