This isn’t my normal choice in music variety, but it’s definitely appropriate today!  I ran into these guys at the Indianapolis Raceway Park during the US Nationals back in the 80s. Some of them were campaigning a dragster in Competition Eliminator.

This one has been burning a hole in my head for days.  "Stay" or "Why don't you Stay a little bit Longer".

The group that introduced it.

They used it in Dirty Dancing.  And a hundred other groups have performed it.  But I can't find the version I have in my head.

Additional information.

Good band and you’re right I never heard of them!

I joke about hating the banjo and have a lot of fun with it. It’s not my favorite instrument to listen to.

But talent is talent and these guys have it. I’ve met ‘em and have shared the stage with a couple of the guys in the band.

I hope you have a good sound system to hear this on.  It needs to be LOUD.  The cars next to me at red lights thought I was nuts!!!

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Epic   A really interesting DVD series on early music and the first recording machines.  The producers also brought in a bunch of musicians to cover songs from that era.
