Blackwater 53393 Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 Here’s one from my past. I did this one with one of the guys that was responsible for getting me back on stage after about 25 years. Great song for an acoustic show… 2 1 Quote
Cypress Sun Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 One of the great storytellers of our time who left us way before his time. Great song, Thanks 2 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 I don’t know why this one crossed my mind. It’s a ballad, a love song, and a really unique arrangement, all in one great piece! 1 1 Quote

Chantry Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 Some West Coast Jump blues. Most of the songs, like Don't Do It, are humorous. A great small venue act, for me they are always a must see when they come around. Quote
Dirty Dan Dawkins Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 I don't really get into, jazz, or understand it, or know a lick about music theory. But I know talent when I see and hear it. Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 (edited) My cover band used to open our shows with this number. We spent hours of rehearsal time getting it right… Some folks said we did it well. I always hoped we did it justice! The Brothers were better than we deserved. Blackwater 53393 Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Here’s some more Blues!! We covered this one as well. Often used it to open our second set. The guys played it really well, but my vocals could NEVER match Gregg’s!! Quote
Rye Miles #13621 Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 We used to do this song in the first band I was in Quote
Chantry Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Some more Rhiannon Giddens and her most recent album. Perhaps more so than earlier albums, this album moves her incredible voice to the front and instrumental skills back a little. Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Caught this one on the XM in the car this morning. She plays a pretty damn mean guitar too!! 1 Quote
Chantry Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 (edited) Claudia Lennear spent almost her entire career as a backup singer. "Phew" from which this song is taken is her only album. A very good album overall. Claudia dated Mick Jagger and she is alleged to be the inspiration to the Rolling Stones song 'Brown Sugar". 'Not At All' is supposed to be her response, telling Mick that he could easily be replaced. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claudia_Lennear She had a lot of good and very experienced people who worked on this album: https://www.allmusic.com/album/phew!-mw0000842041#credits Edited January 12, 2024 by Chantry 1 Quote

Blackwater 53393 Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 I was just talking to one of the guys that played on this album. Sadly, I believe that the rest of them have passed on. I went to school with two of them and another was a friend. Great album! Great friends! Great Song! Great memories! Quote
