I mean no offense, Dan, but I absolutely hate that version of a truly great song!

Here’s the original! Much more soul and emotion and the orchestration is far and away superior!

My opinion, of course!!

I met Don Williams around 1996. I was working for a bus company and he’d bring his bus in to have repairs done that he couldn’t do himself.

We’d started the Milkbone act and had begun traveling the southeastern college fraternity/sorority circuit.

Our actual first meeting was when I did some HVAC repairs for him and we sat and talked while the A/C went through its cycles.  He was a true gentleman and just a nice guy.

We crossed paths many times at various colleges and even sat in with each other a time or two.

I sat and partied with David Clayton-Thomas when he was doing a show in a bowling alley bar in Largo, Florida in 1983 or 84. We talked and had drinks for about 1 and 1/2 hours in-between his shows, just me and him. Real nice, down to earth guy.  Still had the big, powerful voice and did all of Blood, Sweat & Tears hits and not so famous songs.

Yeah, it was pretty cool and completely unexpected. In all honesty, I kind of felt bad for Mr. Clayton-Thomas as there was only about 20 people there for the 1st show, not very many for what I considered a top rate musician as was his (mostly brass) band that was with him. That didn't stop them from putting a first rate show at all. There were more people in the audience for the second show than the first, but not many more. A unique night to be sure and one that I will think about and remember for a lifetime.

Buddy Rich was asked on the Johnny Carson show if he liked any of the new rock/pop drummers at the time. Buddy said Bobby Columby of BS&T. He was definitely one of my favorite drummers!

If we’re gonna do this, we should pause for a few words from the master…

I’ve been otherwise occupied for the last few days!

I figure it’s time to bring this thread back to the top!

A little something to lighten up the mood!

A magnificent voice and his work since 2000 is far different from what made him famous
