Was it contingent upon her gaining Swiss citizenship? Or was she just going to live out her years in Switzerland? Plenty of people currently in the US SHOULD renounce their US citizenship and move the hell out. I am unaware of Tina Turner's politics and if they had any bearing on her choice. Either way, RIP Tina.

Smokin Gator SASS #29736
For what it's worth what I came across was that she had no intention of living in the U.S again. She was very happy in Switzerland and her music is greatly supported in europe. You must have Swiss citizenship to purchase property there. They are strict on that. That looks to be a big factor. She did not renounce her citizenship, she relinquished it.

I read the same thing, she had nothing against the USA she was living very comfortably in Sweden with her new husband and there was also something about her buying property.
