For Cat People

The results of a large scale test were released a day or two ago. After extensive research and investigation, it has been confirmed that dogs are smarter than cats. There are many more neurons in the brain of a dog than in the brain of a cat. Dogs are more adaptable and are more able to solve problems and are simply more intelligent.

None of this has anything to do with whether you prefer cats or dogs, but it certainly is enlightening.

I don’t care much for cats.

I REALLY LIKE DOGS!!!

Howdy,

When a cat drops a pheasant at my feet I will be impressed.

Dogs are smarter than cats???  yeah right....ROFLMAO....um, dogs have owners, cats have staff....which is the more intelligent??  hmmm......

Posted

Cats require staff because they’re not smart enough to poop outside!

Cats need staff because they’re mostly useless otherwise and are too undisciplined to live indoors unsupervised!!!^_^

Are cats or dogs smarter? Methinks cats.

First, there is the owner/staff thing. Those of us who would defend against being owned and obtain staff with little effort, are obviously smarter.

Second, can dogs purr?

I rest my case.

Cats have cat eyes, cat ears, cat tails and are covered with cat hair!

You never see any of those disgusting things on our Brave, Noble Dogs.

They have loving dog eyes, attentive dog ears, friendly dog tails and are covered with wholesome dog hair.

I rest my case.

you think cats aren't smart?  one of my new kittens is black, the other is gray...right now they're both upstairs crashed out on momma's bed....the gray one is laying on my gray pajama pants, the black one is laying on momma's black robe....that way their really nice soft fur won't show on either one!

We had a Russian Blue that was a ghost kitty: for 19 years he hid under the bed, only coming out for food, the litter box and occasional petting; our Maine Coon was a lap cat that demanded salmon and bacon bits for 18 years; a long haired calico that shed in our laps for 20 years and a Siamese that tried her best to trigger my allergies for 22 years.   I don't believe this is intelligence at work as much as it is being adept at looking cute and meooowing a lot.

My Brave, Noble Labs spent all their lives swimming out to retrieve ducks and beating the bushes to help harvest pheasants.  Now that is dedication.

dedication yes, I'll give you that....but intelligence?  who were the dogs getting the birds for, themselves, or you.....hmmmm.......if they were that smart they would have been at home, warm and dry, getting waited on hand and foot like the cats did.....

I have always hated cats.

Until my kids talked me into getting a couple. Don't care what the studies say, them things are smart!

They even clean up after themselves and bury their poop so I don't have to smell it or step in it!

I have had dogs and cats in my house for over 60 years. I love them both, but they are different animals. You can not really compare them; but raising a Kitten and a Puppy together is one of the best animal experiences you can possibly have.

Remember, two things about cats.,  The Lord gave us the Cat so we could pat the Tiger; and two., If cats could talk, thy would not!

A friend of mine says that cats are only smarter than those who cater to them!  ^_^

My mom was nearly killed by a dumbass cat who always persisted in walking in front of her and caused her to trip and fall. If not for a local sheriff’s deputy who checks on her, she would likely have died from the concussion. The same cat nearly tripped me and I caged it and delivered it to the local shelter. :angry:

Blackwater, I still love you, but we can agree to disagree about cats.  A good friend had a similar experience to your mom's.   The only difference was instead of a cat it was the family black lab.  It pulled her down the stairs.  Three surgeries later she can now set of the metal detectors at the airport with her numerous plates and screws.  She also got a concussion and she has a new scar on her forehead.

I grew up in a house full of boxers.  I love dogs, but now I have cats.  I treat them like dogs.  Most of them fetch, come when called, and are as happy as any dog to see us when we come home.

When we retire, which will be very soon, I'm sure we'll add a dog or two to our "family zoo".  Right now the cats require far less maintenance.  Caring for dogs is like having kids again.

My beloved Smooth Collie and his family were raised with a boss kitty. He knew who ruled and it wasn't him.

My cats don't even need me to shoot the birds, they kill them all by themselves. And then fetch the to me, whether I want them or not! Out of the 15 cats I have owned in the last 40 years, not one ever pooped in the house, but I can't say that for the 4 dogs I have had. And they are smart enough to take themselves outside to the back yard to do their business now as I have no litter box, but the dog needs to go on a walk to go, in spite of having a perfectly good doggie door.

Over the years we've had as many as 4 dogs and 3 cats at the same time. They eventually all got along, and used same 'dog door'. One orange tabby liked rubbing against one of the dogs. When cats would go out, sometimes a dog would follow 'discretely' and watch...dogs loved cat poop, or whatever the cat may catch. One dog in particular would hang out at the 'dog door', and do a door check...in essence, take whatever critter the cat caught and was trying to bring into the house.

Cats Rule while dogs drool (then they lick their butts and try to lick your face)

When I was a kid our dog would run thru the neighborhood, grab a bag of trash from somebody's trash can, carry it back home, jump back over the fence and proceed to rip everything to bits and I got to clean it up.

My dogs don't soil the house floors. They also don't sit their bare butts on my cutting board, counter tops, or stove top!!  We once had cats, but Schoolmarm is allergic and I wear lots of black clothes.  Cat hair is twice as hard to keep off as dog hair.  The dogs don't try to crawl into my cabinets or swat things off of the shelves out onto the floor.  My current dog, Jezebel, can get water from the faucet in the tub and turns it off when she finishes and I only feed her to keep her from eating the neighborhood cats, squirrels, and rabbits!!  Se likes most people, riding in the car, and her place on the end of the couch!

One thing I've NEVER understood!!  How can a dog or cat lick its own behind and still be picky about the flavor of their food???:lol::lol:
