Even as a civilian who hasn't served I can tell this guy is not the real deal. Too bad people have to try and be.....well....to live in a 'fantasy' world for reasons of psychological disorder or to for self gain of some sort.

I say lets send him to the sand box for a year so he can see what it's like to be a REAL soldier.

Hell no! He isn't fit to share their rations.

Would you want that ass in a unit with you?

My Mom thought all the hippies should have been drafted and sent to 'Nam until I told her that would likely condemn me to death or life in prison..

On second thought you are both right. Wouldn't want to saddle our troops with worthless dead weight.

Oh, I dunno... Send him out in front of the next patrol, armed with a mine detector and a probe! Possibly save some G.I. handler and his bomb-sniffing dog from getting hurt.

He'd miss the mine and the guy behind him would trigger it.

Nope best place for him would be gitmo. But we can'tcharge his sorry ass with anything so a blanket party and public humiliation will have to do for now. Ionlyhope those Marines sent the footage to channel 25 or 12 or FOX 29 in West Palm.

Maybe he could be made eligible for the modern version of this badge:

Those jackasses should have to work at a VA facility helping real vets

Cleaning latrines only. No face to face contact.

Why don't these guys do five minutes of research before they pull this crap? The order of precedence and all sorts of info about proper uniform wear, aside from the actual AR670-1, are readily available on line.

The only time he turns on a computer is to search for child porn.

And they're delusional, and think no one will figure them out.

Besides, I don't want them to get any ideas and make them more difficult to spot.

I don't think this guy could be any EASIER to spot. It's almost like those "can you spot the mistakes" games to look at this guy's uniform. And, uh, he um, doesn't, uh, doesn't really uh, present himself like, uh, like any, uh, any Sergeants-Major I have met.

EDIT and I'm not even very familiar with that particular uniform. It basically came out after I had gone. But some stuff is just like "wow, really?"

None of them pose as E5s or below. They all have to be field grades or senior NCOs dripping with medals. That's Mistake #1.

Mistake #2 They do no research

Mistake #3 They show up at events where other vets are sure to be

Mistake #4 They always, always pull the "it's classified" card. Biggest red flag ever.

Mistake #5 They get away with it once, so they figure they'll get away with it ever time.

He can be prosecuted under the Stolen Valor Act of 2013. At least 2 of those medals are covered under the law.

Alas...Nope. You can walk around like that all day. Unless the below can be proven.

Stolen Valor Act of 2013 - Amends the federal criminal code to rewrite provisions relating to fraudulent claims about military service to subject to a fine, imprisonment for not more than one year, or both an individual who, with intent to obtain money, property, or other tangible benefit, fraudulently holds himself or herself out to be a recipient of:

  • a Congressional Medal of Honor,
  • a distinguished-service cross,
  • a Navy cross,
  • an Air Force cross,
  • a silver star,
  • a Purple Heart,
  • a Combat Infantryman's Badge,
  • a Combat Action Badge,
  • a Combat Medical Badge,
  • a Combat Action Ribbon,
  • a Combat Action Medal, or
  • any replacement or duplicate medal for such medal as authorized by law.

You know, after reflecting on some of the people I met in the military, I can clearly see how these guys would expect to get away with this.

Are we certain that he is not an "official" North Korean military type?

He does look a bit like Rodman....

Aside from not understanding why someone would want to do this, I don't understand why they attempt to defend themselves.

Let's suppose, just for supposing, that I'm at some doings at my high school, and I'm wearing a letterman's jacket. I was in the band. Did not play on a team. Did not earn a letter. But suppose I'm wearing a jacket. Some guy comes up to me. "I was class of 73, and I damn sure don't remember you on the football team. What position did you play?"

I wouldn't try to spin some line about being quarterback or tight end or 3rd-string bench warmer. I'd tell him to piss off. And if I was wearing a uniform, sporting more medals than Audie Murphy, and someone came and got in my face and wanted to know how I won THIS ONE and how I won THAT ONE - I'd tell 'em to piss off. And it don't matter whether I was a poser or an actual hero. I don't know you, and I damn sure ain't gonna defend myself to you.

'Course, maybe they think an authentic hero would be happy to tell everyone how he got four clusters on his Silver Star.

A. They're jackasses with low self esteem.

B. They're pathological liars.

C. You're not.

Liars always just pile one lie on top of another when confronted.

Case in point: Vladamir Putin

I rest my case.

And, if for some reason, I was in uniform or wearing some decorations for a ceremony/reunion and someone questioned me, I would be happy to explain each one to them. I would also have acopy of my DD214 in my pocket. 10 years ago, no. But do to the epidemic of posers these days, it wouldn't bother me. A vet would know within 3or 4 questions if you're genuine (it's estimated that there are actually more fake Vietnam vets than actual ones now).

Now this guy had so much wrong with his appearance, no questions were really necessary. Just get the Louisville Slugger.

Yeah. Looks like he just changed it too bad. Probably overwhelmed his youtube page. I'll keep my ear to the ground. I have a few friends in that area. The first link to my Facebook page still works.
