Manatee Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I've had it! Do you realize how many people die in their sleep? Millions! Billions! So, I propose that we outlaw sleeping. Yah, I know what you neocons will say: Outlaw Sleeping and Only Outlaws will take naps! Well, phooey. Stay awake, dammit! .......and don't blink too often or you'll get a citation.
Gold Canyon Kid #43974 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Now we know where the most snow and worst weather has hit in the US.
Shooting Bull Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 You'll get my pillow when you pry it from my cold dead hands.
Widder, SASS #59054 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Your setting a bad example Great Leviathian. Tooooo much sleep obviously make you ornery and makes ye eyeballs pop out. Besides, I sleep with one of them CPAK thigamajigs on my face to help keep me from dying in my sleep. If I can't sleep, how can I dream. ..........Widder
Widder, SASS #59054 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Manatee, this 'no sleep' idea might have some merit. This could help California and Arnie get out of debt. I propose a 'Sleep Tax'. Got a nice sound to it, don't it. How this: everybody's tax is based on how expensive your bedroom suit and mattress cost. And there can be a SurTax on things like: 1. do you lay in bed and watch tv? This could warrant a 'reasonable tax'. 2. do you make a living in bed? This could warrant a 'sin tax'. 3. are there more than one person in your bed at a time. This could warrant a 'Corporate Tax'. WOW, this could trully be the answer to our problems. Don't sleep.....pay no tax Sleep ..........pay tax. ..........Widder
Manatee Posted February 3, 2011 Author Posted February 3, 2011 Arnie? What are you Widder Van Winkle? Arnie is history. Governor Moonbeam is in charge again.....and....I gotta say it: I think he is gonna help more than hurt.

But Philly, because only ONE person is in the bed at a time, the tax will be minimal. Sorri about the time-lag Manatee. Anyhow, maybe this will help ole Jerry get em outadebt. ..........Widder Van Winkle
Manatee Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 You'll get my pillow when you pry it from my cold dead hands. 'at's funny. I don't care who ya are.
That Masked Man Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Is it OK if I just sleepwalk and PRETEND to be awake?
Cypress Sun Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Ah yes, sleeping...........when the timer beeps, I'll wake up............maybe.
Badlands Bob #61228 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Will this tax be applied to my magic leather chair? It's not my fault, it just sucks the life out of me whenever I flip the lever on it. Maybe I have a disability. I should get a benefit check.
Bad Bascomb, SASS # 47,494 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 If you hang around California long enough, your 'dream' may come true....
Greeenriver SASS #38681 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Let's gust let this idea settle till nrxt fall, if you all will. I intend to die this summer peacefully in my sleep like my Grandpa did. NOT screaming and crying the people on the buss he was driving!!! Greeenriver
Cowboy Junky Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 OK....this sleep tax is it a flat tax or does it increase the more you sleep and rob others of their opportunity to sleep. Also if you have a sleep union can you opt for a waiver or is that only for a select few that have ties to the President?
Three Foot Johnson Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 There's got to be a sheethead joke in here somewhere...
Blackwater 53393 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I'm asleep right now and my lawyer says that I've been grandfathered in so this law and the taxes are waived. I suggest that you investigate this possibility. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!
Doc Windshadow Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I think the phrase " I can sleep when I am Dead" may apply here ... Hum who said that was it one of those "live fast die young and leave a beautiful corpse" rock and roll types from the 60s?
Stump Water Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Might as well. I've always said if I didn't have to sleep, eat and work I could get something done.
Chickahominy Charlie Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Ahhhh heck....I wasn't gonna say nuthin', but I jess couldn't help myself..... Ya'll all know that when/if the sleep tax starts, then there will some states who will pass derivitive-type legislation. For instance, some states will allow you to sleep, so long as no one else can see you when you're doing it, and so long as you take the 8 hour "Sleep Safe" class and pay the registration fee. Your "Concealed Sleep" license must be renewed every 3rd year. Still, other states will probably try to pass a law which restricts the sale and/or distribution of the components of sleep such as blankets, jammies, pillows, etc. I guess those who have a conviction of having slept in excess of 12 hours per day or something will not be allowed to possess pillows, jammies, etc. Ok...I'm done.
Chihuahua Floyd Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Do we get taxed if we sleep at work. Already being hit big time on salay via income tax, sleep tax would be double jepoardy. Illegal if you ask me. If I can't be tried twice for the same crime, how can I be taxed twice for the same work????
shenny Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Your setting a bad example Great Leviathian. Tooooo much sleep obviously make you ornery and makes ye eyeballs pop out. Besides, I sleep with one of them CPAK thigamajigs on my face to help keep me from dying in my sleep. shenny Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I hereby request that the Wile Bunch put this here thing on the Agenda for next year. We can agree to not vote it in at the Convention. Makes as much sense as some other things. Sha Na Na
Cypress Sun Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 After pondering the proposed "sleep tax", I find said tax to be Unconstitutional as per Amendment 1.........The right to free speech. I talk in my sleep and am therefore exempt from this new tax. Unless other Amendments are ratified that pertain to sleeping (slobbering in your sleep, walking in your sleep, tossing and turning in your sleep, etc) then these activities may be taxed also. Time to contact your representatives in Congress to let them know "you can't tax my sleep and get away with it". I'm a sleeper and I vote.
Widder, SASS #59054 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Sorri Pards. The Sleep Tax has ALREADY been instituted. When the Momas and Papas recorded that song: "California Dreamin", the money they made off that song was taxed. Not only should there be a sleep tax, but a 'dream' tax. "You may sayyyyyyy you're a dreamer; your not the only one". Lets get that tax money rollin in. Rumors this morning is that Washington (The White House) is announcing an 'anti-stimulus' law. Sleeping is not stimulating for the economy. Therefore, the appropriate tax will be initiated. But, as is everything else, this program will be tried in California first. Keep those tax dollars rollin in fellers. ..........Widder

What's it called when you do the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome. It's called California.
Guest Joe West, SASS#1532 L Regulator Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 A simple waiting period and background check to make sure you are safe to be allowed to sleep should clear all these fatalities right up. Joe
Manatee Posted February 5, 2011 Author Posted February 5, 2011 I like my sleep and my hi-cap mags. What's it called when you do the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome. It's called California. Well, California has its problems....but if yer braggin about how the great state of Texas is doin'....last I looked they had a budget deficit of $27 billion which is worse than California. So, sleep on it then heal thyself.

That's just those Austin and Dallas types... one set thinks they're actually Neuw Yawkers, and the other'ns believe they're in California, without the beach. Most of us ignore 'em!
Manatee Posted February 5, 2011 Author Posted February 5, 2011 The point is I wouldn't be throwin rocks at ol' Jerry right now. Perry ain't no first prize kewpie doll either.
Pulp, SASS#28319 Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 I'm agin' it. I always heard the best way to die is to die in your sleep. I try to get all the sleep I can so I'll increase the odds.
