Glad you like it. But for me it doesn’t overcome the acidic properties of tomatoes. Actually it has its own acidic value that sets my stomach off. Try having upside down cake for desert. Never understood people that want sweet on meat. Go figure. We all have our own tastes. Good on you, hey try adding anchovies to offset the pineapple lol

I do NOT want fish bait on a pizza

Getting thread drift.  This thread is about pizza.  Those are not pizza.

That brings up the question of how to define pizza.

At it's most basic it can be flat bread topped with olive oil, salt, and herbs.  Next step would be adding olives and/or cheese.

Apicius, in the 1st century, described a dish of flat bread topped with chicken, cheese, garlic, oil, and herbs.  Is that pizza?

Tomato sauce didn't seem to be added until the late 1800s, although slices of tomato may have been added as a topping in the 1600s by Neopolitan peasants, to add to the lard, cheese, garlic, oil and herbs on their pizza.

So, it seems that pizza can be defined as a flat bread with a sauce as basic as oil and herbs and maybe cheese, garlic, or olives on up to the Chicago Deep Pan focaccia with quarts of savory tomato sauce, pounds of cheese, and pounds of meat.

The open face ham, cheese, and pineapple above seems to fit in that realm.  Bread, oil (butter), and topping.

Loved bread toasted on one side and then buttered with a slice of ham, pineapple and cheese then under the grill as a kid (still do) and the grandchildren love them now!

NO! .... this is the only thing that vegemite does not go well with.

It contrasts too sharply (violently) with the tomato.:(

I've mixed a little Vegemite with butter, sliced some sourdough and toasted it on one side, spread the other side with the compound butter, topped it with thinly sliced onion and tomato, then some grated cheese and popped it under the broiler.  Good stuff, Maynard.

Anybody ever put a slice of pineapple on their burger?

One of my signature items off the grill is a 1/3 lb burger not too lean so it has good flavor.

Thin slice of grilled onion

Slice of Pepperjack cheese

Slice of grilled pineapple

Sweet Hawaiian bun, buttered then lightly toasted.

Slice of fresh tomato or iceberg lettuce if desired.

Many an Australian Hamburger Shop include in their menu a "works" burger.

... basically an amalgamation of all of their "optional toppings" ... usually includes bacon, egg, pineapple, and whatever else is in the fridge .....

I've done it with a burger made with ground pork but not with beef.
Bet it would be good with lamb.

When I looked up what it was I was led to believe it was more popular than Vegemite.
