Alpo Posted February 18 Posted February 18 ^^^^ That's true. George Graham Vest (1830-1904) served as U.S. Senator from Missouri from 1879 to 1903 and became one of the leading orators and debaters of his time. This delightful speech is from an earlier period in his life when he practiced law in a small Missouri town. It was given in court while representing a man who sued another for the killing of his dog. During the trial, Vest ignored the testimony, and when his turn came to present a summation to the jury, he made the speech and won the case. 1 1 Quote

The show where Reagan did the scene was embellished considerably! I figure that is the result of Hollywood’s bent for flowery overproduction!! 1 Quote

Thank you BTW the first lady talking is Sue, she lived across the street from my parents. The gentleman in the chair is Pat her husband. They have been our friends for close to 40 years. Excellent breeders of Australian Shepherds. Sue typically only keeps male dogs and puma is from a recent litter that the buyer had to back out on. Four males and two females. Puma and the male that Sue is keeping are the only two left. Maybe Gods plan in action because the next litter won’t be available till September or so. I wasn't ready for another dog however, she really needed one, so I found her one. I have never regretted that decision. Blackwater 53393 Posted March 1 Posted March 1 (edited) We got a new addition to the family while ago. I’d had enough of the house without a dog and Schoolmarm finally decided she could handle it. We haven’t decided yet what to call her. They called her Essie, but I don’t think it fits her well. Really bashful and we’re sure she was treated poorly, but she rode very well in the car and is getting comfortable, slowly, with her new surroundings. Edited March 1 by Blackwater 53393 2 2 Quote
