Injun Ryder, SASS #36201L Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Let's go already!!! This is where Custer likes to be when he goes for a ride. He has been riding like this since he was big enough to get on the console. (He always wears a harness and is secured by the black strap laying below the console.) 5 Quote

Blackwater 53393 Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 (edited) Schoolmarm and I are starting to consider getting a new pup. It’s been since late March that we lost the Boobie!! With the health issues surrounding that period and both of us still recovering, we’ve put getting another dog on hold. We’re both doing much better now and there’s a void that’s getting bigger all the time! We went for nearly forty years where there was at least one flea wagon in our midst. We’re starting to talk about visiting the shelters to do another rescue!! Hope we can find another dog as lovable as this one! Edited October 22, 2024 by Blackwater 53393 2 2 Quote
Eyesa Horg Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 That's great BW! A family needs a dog and there's a dog in a shelter that needs you! They really appreciate being rescued! 2 Quote
Rip Snorter Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 I'm not bold enough to adopt. Too many horror stories. I still have big dogs, all AKC raised from puppies. At some point I will have to go smaller. A friend and his wife who are unfortunately not terribly mobile have a pair of feisty small boys, forget the breed, thing is they are good watchdogs and can get enough exercise between the house and small fenced yard. Living in the country with unpleasant wildlife, nothing under 60 / 70 lbs, unless it is strictly a house dog. Must have dog friends! 1 Quote

I used to have to shovel a run and poop space for Mom's tiny dogs, and actually one of my big boys has the nickname "Princess Toes" because he hates the first snow of the season. He doesn't like it but takes care of business without a walk on a leash after the first couple of snowfalls. Logical, not a lot of snow in Rhodesia! 4 Quote

Friends of mine returned from their teaching contract in Tuktoyaktuk, NWT. with their Husky. Poor dog was freaked out about getting out of his crate and stepping n the lawn. We had to take the crate off the grass and on to the asphalt drive before he'd step out. It took a while for Bruno to adapt!! 3 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 My buddy, Harley, loved the snow! Dalmatians don’t have that second layer of coat like most cold weather dogs, but he relished the snow!! When he stepped out onto the porch and saw the snow, he’d dive off the porch and go sliding across the yard on his belly and then jump around like a porpoise!! He’d finally come back inside when he was soaking wet and half frozen!! 1 2 Quote

The boy and his mama and the dog are walking through the snow, and the boy is saying how Rover is lucky that he's got a fur coat. And the dog is thinking, "you try walking in the snow barefoot". 3 Quote

Here, and the good old US of A, in the free state of Florida, I would shoot you dead. I could even do that legally. We have a law about using deadly force to protect livestock, and domestic animals - dogs and cats and other pets - are specifically listed as livestock. 2 3 Quote

Rip Snorter Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 My dogs are quite large and friendly. Would take someone terminally stupid to try to stomp on them. I believe they could take care of the situation. If not, remember the Don't worry about the dogs sign. 1 1 Quote
