Rancho Roy Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I just read in the trade magazine "SHOT" that Winchester will be offering an 1866 reproduction, fully engraved in 44-40 for $3200 in 20126$3200 seems large to me for a repro...........
Waimea Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 "Fully engraved" is probably where the money is. Waimea

"Fully engraved" is probably where the money is. Waimea Probably Laser or photo engraved Like this 92 but if it's actual hand cut engraving that is not near enough money.
Max Montana, SASS #23907 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 If it's made by Winchester is it still a repro?
Dantankerous Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Uh, in stock at Cimarron. Finally? I'll have to check. When I was down in at Texas Jack's over the summer I was told they had not had a 44 Special '66 in quite some time and were not expecting any in.
H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 If it is made BY Winchester in a factory in the USA, then it is not a reproduction. If it is made FOR Winchester under licence by another company in some other country but are allowed to stamp "Winchester" on the gun, it is still a reproduction. In my opinion.

Winchester ceased to exist several years ago. The name "Winchester" is licensed. None of the lever action Winchesters currently on the market are made in the USA. They are made in Japan. Even the venerable old Model 94 is now made in Japan. Which is fine since Miroku makes superb firearms.
