A person should keep in mind that a lobotomy was considered a viable and acceptable medical procedure during that time period

And then there were the LSD experiments of my era.

And we still don't understand mental health. Now we just treat them with drugs and turn them into zombies. I wish I knew how to make it right.

Yup..

If we can just get those operating rooms open again and do some rear lobotomies maybe we could rid ourselves of some of the rear ends in Washington DC.

(sorry....just some of the goings on in DC have just been asinine lately....pun intended)

Wrong--Leeching is very common in limb reattachment and transplants

Cocaine is still used in medicine.

I'm right. My context was that it is not nearly used as widespread as it was back then...these things are used much more smartly these days...Keep it in context....

I know about cocaine use today. I had a bad cut in the back of my throat and they used a liquid form to numb it then the doc cauterized it.

Lot of sad stuff from the psychiatric hospital files of the 1950s; but a lot of major problems very hard to understand, too.

True - the good thing for future generations is that there is a learning moment in hopes that we improve all aspects - diagnostic and remedy.
