Noz Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I'm sorry. There is no way I could have ever convinced Sgt Holland, black 6'5", 185 lb, gun chief of gun #1 "C" Battery, 1st Battalion 75th Artillery, 8" Self Propelled to ever march around like that.
Subdeacon Joe Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 I'm sorry. There is no way I could have ever convinced Sgt Holland, black 6'5", 185 lb, gun chief of gun #1 "C" Battery, 1st Battalion 75th Artillery, 8" Self Propelled to ever march around like that. "March?" Prance, maybe. Mince, maybe. But MARCH?
royal barnes sass #5792 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 A good U.S. 155 crew would have obliterated them during the first group of "goosesteps".
Old Scatterbrain Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 "March?" Prance, maybe. Mince, maybe. But MARCH? Close-up at 0:36 looks alot like MARPAT
Sergeant Smokepole #29248L Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Sorry.... I didn't laugh but vomited....
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 They are some high steppers for sure, for sure. Not a lot of recoil to that six gun. Most likely a tad bigger than .45. Looks like they got the job done tho.
Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 And of course, the famous Monty Python presentation:
Gunner Gatlin, SASS 10274L Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Sorry, but that is some funny stuff right there...that prancin', neck grabbin', scissor kick jumps...and that spinning cannon .... GG ~
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I'm sorry. There is no way I could have ever convinced Sgt Holland, black 6'5", 185 lb, gun chief of gun #1 "C" Battery, 1st Battalion 75th Artillery, 8" Self Propelled to ever march around like that. 1st 75th? Erlangen? Or was that before they went to Erlangen and converted to Sergeant missiles? three rounds back to back would have been impressive if they did a time on target.
Utah Bob #35998 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 "Oh yes yes I see Sahib. By jove we are having one good cracking time yes?. Very most excellent for sure." Too much British Army influence coupled with too much curry powder in my opinion. I wonder if the target hill was in Pakistan?
Apache Hawk 60642 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 COOL GUN ! But I'm sorry, I missed a lot of it cleaning off the Bulliet from my screen ! ! ! Dem solders are hell-larry-ous ! !
Charlie Harley, #14153 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Too much British Army influence coupled with too much curry powder in my opinion. I was thinking the same thing. As much as the movie clip was funny, they got their first formal military schooling from the Brits. When that Indian gun crew can do a 1000m High/Low shot, I'll be impressed. Until then, it's just a bunch of goose stepping goof balls.

Subdeacon Joe Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 You can't forget this: I like the "shake head aggressively" move. And, of course, the "threatening rifle sling adjustment" can be deadly.
Utah Bob #35998 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 You can't forget this: Hell of a halftime show.
Noz Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 1st 75th? Erlangen? Or was that before they went to Erlangen and converted to Sergeant missiles? three rounds back to back would have been impressive if they did a time on target. Nope, Bamberg. Converted from 2nd Battalion 35th Artillery 155 towed to 1st Battalion 75th Artillery 8" self propelled with the "new" no turret guns. We're talking 1962-63 here.
Noz Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012  That looks a lot like the "block house on signal mountain" in Ft Sill OK
J-BAR #18287 Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 I think the narrator is the same guy I get on the phone when I call for computer support....
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Probably the largest budget item for the Indian Army is shoes and metal plates on them.
Utah Bob #35998 Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Probably the largest budget item for the Indian Army is shoes and metal plates on them. And acting coaches.
Texas Phil Peeno #50923 Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 I think I just ruptured my spleen...
Abilene Slim SASS 81783 Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Maybe John Cleese was their choreographer.
