  2. Just a tip for ya if you have a Dillon 1050 and looking to load 38 short colt. Dillon does not support this caliber and thought I’d try to rig something together. First problem working on is the case feed. I took an adapter(45 Colt yellow) and made an insert for it from a 45-70 case. I first cut off the base end and put a fairly radical flare on the base end of case. This flare is to hold the insert in the adapter and provide a big enough forcing cone to prevent brass from hanging up in the drop tube. The OAL of the flared insert is 1.670. And using the Case feed plunger (small) Seems to work without and hang ups. Not my intent to go into every detail as most who have a 1050 are more conversant than me and know the little details not discussed here. It took about 30 min to make insert and fit check. I had to keep flaring the insert (which shortened OAL) to provide enough clearance to pass over the case feed plunger but not interfere with next brass to drop. Also, think would work for 38 S&W.
  3. good job--my hat is off to those that know this kind of stuff
  4. Okie is a fine feller. I've always enjoyed talking with him on the phone. He is also fairly knowledgeable of Marlins and some of the interactions of the parts inside. He might be a good choice to look at your Marlin and see what might be going on inside. Keep us updated. ..........Widder
  5. I highly recommend this rifle for EVERYONE shooting in the Silver Senior Category, especially those who reside in Florida.

  8. I've bought from Buckaroo Bobbins at major matches. (I too can replace a button and sew.)
  9. Thanks Widder, appreciate your thoughts. Got to shoot with a friend of yours today, "Ozark Okie". He values your opinion highly. Thanks for taking the time to share the info, I will keep updating as I get further into the project.
  10. This is listed as a package deal for $150. Is that correct? Sam Sackett
  11. That's exactly what he did, but mom still had the ticket showing where she traded it back to him.
  12. I had one for a long time . I sold it when I bought my Pedersoli Rolling Block David Podine rifle. I'm miss it though lol
  13. de KI5RGH/AG Edit to ad: There were nine people resting this morning, including two USAF airmen (their co-worker that brought them, probably not 20 years old himself, is already an Extra). I got my General, one advanced to Extra and the rest all passed their Technician exams.

  16. If the carrier is not moving, you've got a problem with either the carrier and / or a section of the lever the carrier interfaces with. My guess, the carrier is the old style and the pivoting arm on the left side is the culprit. Its either broken, cruded up, or a spring has lost its 'stuff'. And certain styles also used a small ball bearing to help make them work. If its missing, that's also part of the problem. A good, knowledgeable Marlin smith should be able to look at it and tell you exactly what's going wrong with it. Its slightly possible the carrier may have been replaced with a newer style carrier and the plunger stud has broken off its security washer. ..........Widder

  19. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED Star Wars when it was first released. I've loved Science Fiction my entire life. Just as much as I love Westerns. When I read in "Starlog" magazine that an upcoming movie, "Star Wars" was to be released in June of '77, the first thing I thought was" I hope it's still in the theaters when I get out of Boot Camp in August." Needless to say, it was. I've watched the first three, (4,5, and6) too many times to count. I took my family to see 1, 2, and 3 in the theaters when THEY came out. They weren't great, (Jar Jar), but we enjoyed them, and have watched them many times since. When the last three came out, we went to see them and were sadly disappointed. We didn't even see the last one. The same we saw week number 7, we saw "Antman" and liked it much better. Then disney started their "Force is female" bit, pushing things worse and worse. They've done the same to Marvel, Indiana Jones, and Pixar. They've ruined everything that they touch. They have a man in a dress at disneyland to escort your young daughter into the Bippity boppity boutique to help her dress like a princess. They are trying to groom your kids into thinking that that sort of thing is not only okay, but normal. It's not. I'll continue to watch and enjoy the earlier movies. I'll continue to watch earlier Marvel movies, and the first three Indiana Jones movies. But disney will never get another dime out of me unless and until there is a complete and total change there. So far, the only thing that they seem to be able to realise is that nobody likes their stuff anymore. And everytime we don't, they come out and blame the fans for not liking it. They refuse to recognise that we think what they're doing is crap, and they continue the say that we just don't get "it". I get it, and I don't like it. As far as I'm concerned, disney needs to die. Maybe we can harness the Light side of The Force and make that happen. May The Force be with us ALL!
  20. Hammerless Sharptail coach gun is a fantastic choice for this game. Get if 'tuned'.
  21. Hey to all, sorry about being late to reply but have been shooting today. OK, more information. The barrel is shot out. No bulges outside but some wash out inside. Lots of black powder has been shot in it. Tried to clean it up as much as I can and shot it today. It will shoot. It will not cycle. Will not pull a round from the magazine and chamber it. It ejects a spent round well. The carrier is not moving the live round up to the chamber and this creates a jam at the mag tube. I was going to restore it as well as I could but I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it and still have a shot out barrel. This is a Marlin 1894 in 32-20 and it's age has been estimated at estimated between 60 and 100 years old. It has a nice patina finish and the wood is not terrible. Both sites need work. Just trying to decide if I want to purchase or not, and then go forward with restoration. Thanks to Black Jack and Okie for working with me on it today.
  22. Update: Finding Large Magnum Rifle primers these days is almost impossible. I did locate new Remington LRM primers at Bruno's Shooter's Supply, so I bought another brick. I went back to load testing my 7 PRC. Of the 20 loads, one FTF! For giggles, I pulled all the loads that didn't fire, carefully popped the primer out, popped them into 7 Rem Mag brass, and tried them in my Remington 700. Half fired! So, I think my brand-new 7 PRC has a weak firing pin spring. The good news is I now have 2K of LRM primers. The bad news is I need to contact Ruger once again.
