Bore Sighting

Here's one I got off of Amazon.com. They have lots to choose from. https://www.amazon.com/Professional-Adapters-Calibers-Multiple-Powerful/dp/B0DFBNRBBQ/ref=sr_1_8?crid=26DVJVEBVHWOH&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.xsiP8YZfUN4fxBjlIqVzMA7qgn3OxWy0jbRvPep4O4dd7GC9hxyD26htxjoUf-fyNfOXHGTlpSMqmuvMQHPgJulaJfe31aHpSHlfKKfKuEg70DUSd-prUSyGU4c3JoRGaBsG4HerNA3Gd7N2qv-6onefw_XvIR1ZayxyJgoua4muK_4-Ie4ZDw3peJti-CQaAhthOhX9-c3sDqM9W7veJXA9N1Gd5wQFxkD9vznwRH-dsQzx1kJmZAR4Gxe21aVQCd0jycdFqpvkegle4WIuEKNC_FXh8umFWzYFnE91KSg.DVITYkPdAio4qRGsfnu63S0o3j_te9pKS5JU9GU1DjQ&dib_tag=se&keywords=laser+boresighter+kit&qid=1752512663&sprefix=boresight%2Caps%2C148&sr=8-8 Horace -
Shooting a BP match will definitely aid in removing the carbon build up. I do use an old toothbrush to clean smokeless carbon build up with a dab of carbon solvent. It will not remove it completely but to just prevent heavy buildup. Although on occasion, I use Flitz to polish the cylinder face but not to be worried if I didn't get to it. I would be more worried if my firearms are not disassembled for a thorough inside cleaning though and I do this at least twice a year or before a major match. Otherwise will not worry about getting all the carbon residue off.

There will always be a sky falling somewhere. I would load it up and that way you have ammo, not components.

So I've been getting into ham radio quite heavily over the past six months and have ventured into HF operations (I got my general license at the same time as my technician). Call sign, KF0ROC. For HF, I'm using an Icom 7300. I installed a Comet CHA-250hd vertical antenna outside on the corner of the property with a tilt base made by DX Engineering. The tilt base will allow me to lay the antenna down during the crazy wind storms we get. I even landscaped around the antenna and its associated ground rod so that mowing is easy. Anyway, I have had QSOs all over the country, into Canada, and even Russia. I hunt POTA activations and have earned the bronze, silver, and gold hunter awards. I have heard Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica, and a few other DX stations but couldn't break through the pileup. But I really want to improve my DX game. At this point I'm willing to put up a tower. Assuming I have a tower installed (let's say 40 or 50 feet), what directional antennas should I consider? How does a rotator work? Anything else to consider?

Yes, but when being assisted in finding it the guillotine crew was not helpful. They allowed them a few seconds to look for it on the platform directly beneath them, but the blade slipped and it made it hard for them to see. At that point it was wood, sky, wood, sky, metal chute, sky, metal chute, sky, metal chute, someone else’s face and the odor of blood and stinky breath. Then the lights went out.

What do you consider the best bore sighting kit?? I have a BSA kit, but am not happy with it.

When I first met Ellie, she offered to hard boil me some eggs. She cracked them into a pan of water and left them to boil. Had to throw out the pan!

Ejection failures - things to check Open action briskly ("run it like you stole it") Check ejector (a small 90 degree angle spring on left side of action ) that it is intact and not bent badly Check for both extractors are free to work (not gummed up) and that the tail is not broken off the left side extractor. As for the "action doesn't like to open unless you have fired a shell" - that is what Browning designed the gun to do. The action slide lock was designed to keep a dud shell in the chamber for a second or so instead of the shell deciding to fire as shooter ejected the dud. Back when primers did not fire off every single shell instantly (before 1920), this was seen as necessary. Now, not so much. As you put some wear into the gun by using it, you will find the slide lock opens much more easily. But, if it is getting in your way, a good 97 smith can polish it up and reshape the lock actuator hook to work smoother. good luck, GJ

Hoppes Black will clean carbon very well but... DO NOT get it on brass! You'll get a green funk that is difficult to get off. https://www.hoppes.com/cleaners-and-lubricants/black/hoppes-black-cleaner/P00282.html The "Scotchbrite" Dremel tools used LIGHTLY will clean up the end of the cylinders as well.

Might just have to try it!!

I read this years ago. I'm thinking it was probably Reader's Digest, Life in These United States. Wouldn't swear to where I read it though. Elementary School class. Fourth, maybe 5th grade. And they're doing history and talking about the revolution. The teacher passes out a copy of the Declaration of Independence. It's going around the room. Most kids just glanced at it then pass it behind. It gets to this one little boy. And he read it. And when he got it read all the way through, and read the signatures, he picked up his pencil and he signed it. Then he handed it to the kid behind him.

I use M-pro 7 gun cleaner and a light application of a bronze brush. I use the Mother's once a year or so on the rest just to remove the light scratches, but keep in mind it is removing metal, even if microscopic! The carbon around the barrel is near impossible to completely remove. You just can't get at it. Do a match with black powder and it will be all gone, including the front of the cylinder. I do that every spring. I did mine quick the other day, I'll show you the results this weekend. Be careful with the brushes on blued guns. Stainless is pretty easy comparatively.

When I clean the cylinder face, I use a grey Scotchbrite pad.

Why Women Live Longer Than Men, Chapter 843
Eyesa Horg replied to Subdeacon Joe's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
I've only cut out once and didn't go far due to the instant bear hug! Got blown off one once at about 8' in a thunderstorm! Landed on muddy grass. I've had to climb 2 that a tech earlier took a ride down, pieces of clothing and flesh on them there giant splinters. The old blackjack poles left a splinter that really, really stings. Don't miss it one little bit. Oh had a pole break at the ground once when I was up there😮, fortunately the drops to the building held it till I got down. Climbing them ice covered is a treat! 🤨 Oh the nostalgia!! -
Great match to attend. Worlds most famous gunfight..... 20231029_093450.mp4
