Randy Saint Eagle, SASS # 64903
I went ahead and bought one of the new synthetic stock Stoeger coach guns because they were so cheap. I got it at a LGS for $275 out the door. I replaced the top lever spring, lightly polished the paint off the moving parts, disabled the automatic safety and lightly funneled the chambers. I wanted to make sure it didn’t open when I fired factory 1 1/8oz shells. I fired 35 various shells, reloads and factory and it never opened on its on. It would make a good starter shotgun like it is. I’ve shot a single trigger SKB so long that I’m very fumbly with this but it shoots ok. Krazy Kajun
It looks pretty good, I'd say the only thing missing is the addition of a lead magnet on the chambers to provide increased guidance when inserting the shotgun shell...they'll be "attracted" to the chambers and get in quicker. 😎 Kajun 2

Badlands Bob #61228
That's a pretty good price for a Stoeger. I'm glad to see a decent affordable shotgun available to shooters.

Preacherman
You can reverse the triggers and if long enough cut the barrels to get cylinder bores = better cowboy gun.

Dapper Dave
Nice, sir. I bought one too, and it works just fine with cowboy loads, shucks nice, but I haven't polished it enough to get that smooth flip action. Nicely done, sir.

Johnny Meadows,SASS#28485L
I just picked up two and haven't had time to go through them, but they look and feel fine. The modified barrel produces a tighter pattern that helps loft the clay above my black powder smoke cloud, then the IC barrel gives a little more open pattern to bust the clay.

Dapper Dave
My gunsmith buddy had his way with this one. The automatic safety is no more, cut JUST short enough to not push the safety bar. Regular safety still works just fine. We figured out how to adjust the cast for the stock, have to buy some black plastic stock at Micheals tomorrow, get the shot perfectly on target. Also, that stock is completely hollow, mebbe get a trap door buttplate and use for storage? But seriously, the other BIG repair/upgrade was swapping out the top lever spring. THAT sucker was hard...and didja notice it only swings to the right? That is taking some getting used to, but I tried it today. Works. I think I got my money's worth, and yes, Palmetto State Armory was also sold out two days ago. Dapper Dave
Aha, I see, very nice - mine is a free unmonitored city-maintained range - leave anything here overnight and it will be gone. On the other hand, it's nice to have a clean free range just a few miles from the house. Dusty Bunch shoots there, they can tell you. I lack exactly one firearm now...needum one pistol and my very basic starter battery will be complete.

Johnny Meadows,SASS#28485L
Went through one of these yesterday. They did cut a few corners, but it is basically the same as the older guns. They took less time, if that's possible, fitting and smoothing out the internals, which is a simple fix. I hate the butt stock being completely unfilled. It makes it a lot more work to cut the stock to fit the shooter. After the action job, I still feel that it is a great entry level cowboy action shotgun, expecially, if the buyer is capable of doing some of their own work on it. JM I agree, at a $299 list price at Academy Sports and Sportsman's Warehouse it will let new folks get into a shotgun. A friend had got one of these and shot it for the first time last Saturday and said it shot fine. With these you could get into 2 revolvers for $800, now your at $1100 for 3 of the 4 guns you need. Before everyone jumps on me for inexpensive guns I'm just saying this is a good way for someone to get into the sport on a limited budget. Some folks cannot afford to buy once and cry once. https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/723020133/pietta+1873+limited+edition+.357+magnum+4+3+4 Randy

Rooster Ron Wayne
I started a post on this a month or so ago . A few SASS Wire Cry Babies got my post closed down from all the whining and crying over the plastic stocks. The one good thing about the plastic stocks is they probably won't crack like the wood was notorious for doing on the Stoeger shotguns. I picked one up myself. It's a great backup or loaner shotgun IMHO. I think back when I posted it they was on sale for like 220.00 or something like that . I can't remember. Dapper Dave
The only problem I had was buckshot would freeze up in the gun, wouldn't allow the thing to break completely or allow the extractor to push them out. I know, I know, "This is SASS, we don't USE buckshot!" Well, my guns are multi-purpose tools, and someday I might want to be able to use it with other loads other than just #8 lead bird, which, BTw, works perfectly in this gun ad shucked perfectly without any work done. So I started by wrapping some 600 grit sandpaper around a 20ga mop and lightly sanding the chambers. I also sanded the extractor and all mating surfaces between the barrel block and the receiver. Then my gunsmith buddy made a suggestion, (since I wasn't able to get up there), and here it is in pictures. Note the last pic is of the Federal minishells #4 buck - that's a lot of hate in tiny packages with minimal recoil. 😁 But, everything worked and extracted without issue, so this boomstick is now a true multi use tool.

Dapper Dave
I used what I had available - worked great. But I do understand - if I buy another one of these for a backup, (or likely, primary when I can afford one with wood furniture), I might try that way. In the meantime, this works. I've seen the beveled chamber mouths before - does that really make that big of a difference? Johnny Meadows,SASS#28485L
I've gone through both of the guns that I bought and found nothing out of the ordinary from a standard Stoeger. They both slicked up well. Good move by Stoeger to give a little price relief for new shooters on a budget. JM 3
