Another Photograph of Billy?

Talk about giving Billy the Kid a glow-up! In a surprising twist, forensic expert Lois Gibson claims to have authenticated a newly discovered photograph of the infamous outlaw, showing a side of him that’s much more... well, polished than the gritty gunslinger we’ve come to know.

Found during an estate sale, this photo of a young, clean-cut Billy the Kid is a far cry from his usual rough-and-tumble reputation. It's a bit like finding a yearbook picture of a rockstar before they started smashing guitars—hard to believe, but oh-so-intriguing. Gibson, known for her impressive forensic skills, has backed up her claim by comparing this dapper Billy with the scruffier version we're all familiar with from old tintypes.

If this picture turns out to be legit, it may just rewrite the visual history of one of the Wild West's most iconic figures. Maybe Billy wasn’t always the rebel without a comb after all!

I was loaned a book about gunslingers and it had both pictures.

 

I don't care.  No one is going to ask me to identify the body and he isn't likely to show up in person.

Quickest confirmation that it may be the same person (at least to me).

 

Look at his LEFT thumb in both pictures - remember the known photo is flipped - both of the thumbs "flip upwards" at the base of the nail.

This could be a genetic thing or a broken thumb; but beyond general build and facial structure - make another similarity between photos.

 

Of course, it could also just happen to be two guys of comparable size and structure completely unrelated.

They look as close to being the same as any two separate pictures of ME....

Actually, the original tintype is flipped, because all tintypes were flipped. That was part of the way they were made. Because the tintype was flipped, people for years thought that he was left-handed. You know thisNOTICE his pistol is on his right side in that picture. Also the buttons on the vest are on the right side. Also the loading gate on the Winchester is on the right side. That picture is no longer flipped.

 

And you cannot see his left thumb in the original picture. At least not in a profile view so you can see if he's got hitchhiker thumb or not. That bent back thumb on the original picture is on his right hand.

 

I don't know whether that's Billy or not. But I do know that those two pictures look more alike than the original picture and that picture of the guy and the striped sweater, that they were trying to insist was a picture of Billy the kids 7 or 8 years ago. I saw no resemblance between those two young men.
