I doubt that any of those people are still in power. The NFL allowed this 8 years ago. Most of them are still there, and by their silence on the subject, at least tacitly, still support it. Many in the GOP and the NRA are supporting the opposite of Mulford. Doesn't matter. The GOP and NRA both proved that they are anti-gun and are directly responsible for California's anti-gun laws. Abilene Slim SASS 81783
In a Chiefs game last weekend, after Mahomes was fined, an opposing player did the gunfighter gesture, but nothing was said about it. I mentioned that to a friend who is a rabid Chiefs and NFL fan. He explained that the player’s thumbs were down as opposed to up like Mahomes, and hence not a foul according to the NFL. I guess hammer down on an empty chamber is considered safe in the NFL too… 3

IMHO, any player participating should have been immediately dragged off the field and kicked out of the league. But the NFL allowed it to happen. If they'd have stepped up and at least "The NFL understands that players have the freedom to do that, but as an organization we disapprove", I might have a different opinion of them. But they said "We approve of our players doing this." They STILL haven't demonstrated any disapproval of it, it's just lost its headline drawing ability. So what?? It’s the players that I watch not the suits in the front office. Many of the coaches said they’d bench their players if they knelt. I watch because I like the game and since nobody kneels anymore I’m beyond it. You have your opinion and I have mine. I’m done with this dumb argument go ahead and have the last word if it makes you feel better. I really don’t give a hoot! He's also the source of the 10 round magazine mania and "high capacity magazine" hysteria. The best way to address the firepower concern is therefore not to try to outlaw or license many millions of older and perfectly legitimate firearms (which would be a licensing effort of staggering proportions) but to prohibit the possession of high capacity magazines. By a simple, complete and unequivocal ban on large capacity magazines, all the difficulty of defining 'assault rifle' and 'semi-automatic rifles' is eliminated. The large capacity magazine itself, separate or attached to the firearm, becomes the prohibited item. A single amendment to Federal firearms laws could effectively implement these objectives. Or vote for Trump (retroactive of course) or send money to the NRA as they BOTH supported the bump stock ban. I stopped watching the NFL after the NFL wouldn't do anything about the kneeling issue after being a football fan all my life. I attempted to watch a game a few weeks ago, just to see if I missed anything...nope, I didn't. Although they don't kneel (disrespect our flag and anthem), the idiotic group celebrations for doing their job, that they get paid millions to do, settled it for me. Hell with them. I'll look at the scores to see how my old favorite team is doing (they suck) and I might watch portions of a playoff game. I'll probably watch the Stuper Bowl also. As far as purchasing their merchandise, advertise their product via wearables/bumper stickers/etc., not a chance.

It's really the same issue, just a difference in magnitude. I just default to what almost all the WWII vets at my dad's VFW post said about the anti-war riots in the '60s and '70s. Didn't rant and rave and get their feelings hurt. They didn't like them, but accepted that, other than violence, the Bill of Rights was what they fought for. And, I don't dispute that it's your right to get bent out of shape over the childish and misguided antics of the kneelers and various corporate bodies. Have at! But it's also my right to reject the "More Patriotic Than Thou" tone of the people who thump their chests and pontificate about never watching anything higher than PeeWee League football and U-8 baseball ever again. Remember 8 or 10 years ago people ranting about kids wading in, I think it was the WWII memorial fountain on some hot summer days? All the forced outrage. While a lot of WWII veterans were saying, "Heck! Let 'em play! That's part of why we fought!" I recall a fewvm commenting on the idiocy of building an inviting water feature like that and expecting kids to not play in it to cool off in 95° and 95% humidity weather. 2

bgavin
I think the gov't should butt out of gun control. The simple fix is giving an immediate and public execution to every thug convicted beyond ALL doubt of an intentional gun crime. No lawyer tricks, no delays, no excuses about being raped by his priest, gender dysphoria, being systematically oppressed, racially profiled or having 12 personalities. When every thug is 100 percent certain he will be executed after pulling the trigger, this might deter some of them. The stupid ones and mental cases will only do it once.

Blackwater 53393
There’s not much that really offends me when people celebrate some accomplishment! Most of it is ridiculous and shows how low their expectations really are!! “You did your job! Nice work, but can you walk on water??” A quick fist pump or a salute to the crowd is sufficient. Any more is utterly superfluous and a waste of time and energy! “Now! Get back to work!!” Ol’ Bear Bryant used to tell his players to just hand the ball to the ref and trot back to the sideline. “Act like you do that all the time!” Disrespect for the country that lets you play kids games for a living is offensive. Gestures that mimic or suggest profane or sexual acts are absolutely unacceptable! Other than these?? It don’t matter and the person offering the gesture is just showing that they’re not too bright!!
