Bass Pro / Cabela's quit carrying Pedersoli!!!!

Recommended Posts

Thing to remember, Pedersoli rifles and shotguns are not cheap.  When the Pedersoli replica of the 1878 Hammer Double came out, I was able to score one for 1250 bucks.  Now, depending on the source, they run anywhere from 1400 to 1700 bucks.  The Pedersoli is made better than any other Hammer double on the Market.  Very few shooters are willing to pay the cost of a really fine Double Gun.  The tendency is to buy something cheap and then replace it several times.  Some Silly that.

Rye, It's Stoegers.  Not storgers (funny supermarket??).  And yes.  If you follow SASS/CAS sites, Stoegers break a lot.  You've just been lucky and you like to argue

I’m not arguing I’m just telling you my experience with STOEGERS. I know a quite a few other shooters that can say the same! You just always think you’re right! Sorry but you’re not always right!

I bought a Stoeger Coachgun in ‘97 - damn Otto! He changed Stoeger to “storage” twice!

Anyway, mine has never failed me. Now that I have bragged about it the minions of evil will break my beloved Stoeger…

Back to BPS / Cabela’s.

When Cabela’s was Cabela’s they had decent prices and they had some pretty good sales. Once BPS bought them everything changed. Including the little trick of raising prices on items then 2 weeks to a month later putting them “On Sale”, which was back to their original high price.
I used to love BPS for fishing gear. Their “hunting” department had high prices and limited stock regarding handguns because Johnny Morris only wanted to sell “hunting” guns.
I loved Cabela’s and still like Cabela’s labeled products at BPS. The Cabela’s Instinct hunting apparel line is good stuff. Cabela’s also kept and sold product lines by companies like Pedersoli not because they made them profit, but because it gave them product variety and anyone that comes in for a Pedersoli will buy other things while there.

Cabela’s was truly America’s Outfitter.

Bass Pro Shops is not an “Outfitter” as they claim. They’re an “Outdoors Store”.

How long has it been since anyone cared about Bass Pro.  I gave up on them when I still lived in the unmentionable state west of here, over ten years ago.

I've never bought anything in Cabela's.  They simply never had a store that was convenient for me. to get to.

Me too.

I also liked Gander Mountain. They’re history.

I have seen some Sportsman's Warehouses that were most excellent. Sadly, the local SW closed several years back. I really miss that place!

I have one near me that’s okay, but the Sportsman’s in Washington PA is really nice. They bought the store when Gander Mountain went out of business.

Gander Mountain was the best when they were mostly catalog sales and only had a couple brick and mortar stores. Then they got stupid leadership and ruined a good thing.

I won't go in the one here ever again.  No one knows anything, no one cares about the customers, and they have some absolutely stupid rules about things.  They also tend towards rudeness.  I don't tolerate that at all.

Almost as bad as a government run outfit.

My experience has been just the opposite, of course that was 15 years or so back but around my state SW was the best place of its kind here.

The people in every section were very knowledgeable about sales and products in their respective areas. And some of the friendliest customer service I have ever seen. Lots of us were sad to see that place go. Corporate shut them down because they were only running a fifteen percent profit margin.

Oh, I've had pretty good luck at others of their stores, but the one here is not worth what it does to my blood pressure.

In these parts SW is about as good as it gets.  Which is saying, not as bad as most - and the universal drawbacks to SW, BassPro, and any others is compliance with the stoopid state regs.

Ammunition is locked up.  You have to wait in line for an attendant to accompany you to the glass-fronted  cabints and retrieve what you want for you (or fetch from behind the counter).  Want to buy a gun?  Or even just look at one?  Take a number.  Waits can be up to or over an hour.  Faster to order online - then, you just go in and add your name to the "online order pickup list" and wait to be called.  Line might be a bit shorter.

Oh... and make sure you have your Real ID or passport with you!  Oh... and don't forget, you have to pay for a background check for ammo purchases.  Hopefully the system isn't bogged down.

Otherwise, service is good.
