Alpo
Everyone has small electronic devices that take batteries. And usually this device will be black. In the indentation where the battery fits there will be a drawing of the battery showing you which way it goes. Also black. Difficult to see at times unless you have a nice strong light. When I get a new whatever that is battery powered, one of the first things I do is paint a silver + on the back which allows me to easily tell which end of the hole is for the positive end of the battery. I hope this makes some people's lives easier. 8

More and more devices that are powered by small(er) batteries do not have the coil spring contacts these days. They have solid leaf type contacts many times. Alpo's suggestion is a very good one to make it easier to replace batteries in a low light/no glasses/etc type situation.

Exactly what I was going to say. Good idea, Alpo. Thanks.

Other than button batteries the smallest I've ever run across are AAAs, and all that I have of those have the spring and leaf type. OK, I've done my learning for today!

NO. Almost always, maybe even 99.9%. My late in-laws had a device that just did not work. I looked at it, looked at the diagram and OMG the spring was for the + terminal. 2
Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770
If you're doing that, mark where to push to release the cover too. That gives me more trouble than direction. 2

Rip Snorter
I only put purchase date on expensive rechargeable camera batteries. The rest not worth the trouble.

OK, I've done my learning for today! You don't own any electric watches? I found a locket with an electric music box inside. The locket was 3'4" x 7'8" and the battery was maybe 1/8" x 3/16".....really tiny. I looked high, low. and down the middle and couldn't find anyone who had ever seen one before...so I pulled the whole music box out and put pictures inside the case and inside the lid, bought a new chain and a birthday card, had a name and date inscribed on the back, and it's ready to go to its new home. By the way, I spent an entire nickel on the locket at a senior center thrift sale table and $31.00 for the chain. She needn't know how stingy I am.
