WTK Winchester Miroku 1873

Nice rifles.  Well made.  No aftermarket parts to short stroke them, though.  The lever throw is a little bit shorter than a Uberti.  There is a competition model that has an even shorter stroke but still much less than the Ubertis.  The trigger safety spring is stout but can be lightened.  I have one in 44-40 with 24" bbl.  I added a brass hi viz front sight as the stock sight was hard to see against targets.   No complaints.

I have a Mirakou1873 in 38/357 that I bought from a world champion so it is smooth as butter.  Stroke is longer than my Taylor Comanchero (factory short stroked & tuned) but it shoots really well.  I actually like it better but don’t shoot it much for fear of breaking something.

As mentioned earlier their are more aftermarket options and spare parts for the Uberti/Taylors than the Mirakou’s so really depends on what fits you best.

IMHO 38spl is the only way to go unless you want to shoot some of the traditional categories.  Ammo, brass, bullets and powder are much cheaper than shooting 45colt

I’ve got several and my main match rifle is a 357 competition high grade.  I’ve also got one that Davidson’s offered a few years ago. Both are short stroked from the factory.  They may not be as short as a super short stroke kit, but they are darn close.  All I did to my Davidson’s model was change out the lever safety spring.  It’s very smooth and reliable.  I would recommend these rifles to anyone.  I had Carty tune my competition high grade carbine and couldn’t be happier.

I have one in 38/357. First thing that broke was the little firing pin bolt safety, I welded it up and polished the bolt and it was back in business. The stock also broke, rear stock. I replaced it with a Uberti 73 stock, had to shim it in a couple spots. Loading gate broke, they sent a new one. Mine was one of the first delivered to the US market maybe 10-12 or more years back. It's a good rifle, easier to keep running than soft metal Uberti's, I have 3 Uberti's. I was shooting about 36 matches a year until a couple years ago and the rifle did get a workout, I'm not easy on guns and run them hard. I'd definitely take a Miroku over Uberti.

I've got 2 73's in 44-40 and a 92 in 44-40. Parts are scarce, but I needed a spring and found a German company that has lightened aftermarket springs. I like all 3. I had one short stroked by Long Hunter, but to tell the truth I really can't tell the difference when shooting them.

Good for hunting, long range, ranch rifle.

Currently harder to get up to race speeds.

having shot and competed with Miroku and Uberti ‘73s my main competition rifle is a Uberti. My long-range and hunting rifle is my Miroku

Have two high grade models in 357/38 that have been worked on and "Super short stroked" by Cowboy Carty.   Have had both for over 3years and run hard with thousands of rounds down range.   Never any issues or parts needed to be repaired or replaced.  Best gun that I've owned and I shot the Uberti's for over a decade.

Plus 3 for deluxe sporting rifles tuned by Carty.

My first rifle has been run hard 6 years.  Only thing done is shoot it, clean it.  I replaced a broken firing pin in May.  3 in 357

one 45 Colt for wildbunch

I would say they are the best rifles I’ve seen in 21 years of cowboy shooting…

I don't want to try and change the subject

But if we really think about it .

The way we run and use & abuse our  guns / rifles  .

Uberti / Pietta or Miroku Winchester's all are excellent and tough as Hell Firearms.

I'm sure shot much more then any original Winchest or anything else.

Only problem I personally see with Miroku , is the lack of aftermarket parts.

Uberti Dominates the sport in long guns .
