Warden Callaway
We watch a lot of movies in our retirement. Got on Kill Bill: Vol 1 now. In my mind it's a total POS. But, for some twisted reason, Mary likes movies with high body count. IMDB gave it an 8.2 rating. And the original Magnificent Seven a 7.7. I don't get it. Smokin Gator SASS #29736
For me, it would have been interesting to see what the Magnificent 7 would have been with someone other then Yul Brynner playing his role. Enjoyed both Kill Bill movies.
Warden Callaway
I just picked Magnificent Seven as a comparison. Gone With the Wind 8.2 - Kill Bill equal? Wizard of OZ 8.1.
Forty Rod SASS 3935
I never paid any attention to those ratings. Never will.
Alpo
I don't believe IMDb rates the movies. I think the gazillion of weird people out there in internet land that are logged into IMDb are the ones that rate the movies.
Warden Callaway
I'll look and see if the rating is over 5. And get some clue as to the plot and who's in it. One surprise the other day was The Marksman. Only 5.7 rating but very good movie, I thought. Liem Neeson.
Subdeacon Joe
Those ratings are fan based. Who is more likely to give an online rating to a movie, Forty Rod, or a 20 year old gamer?

What a POS. The ONLY time he demonstrated that he could shoot, he shot a coyote off a dead sheep. Everything else he did in that entire movie was tactically dumb. Made me swear off anything he did. bgavin
I don't use IMDB, but refer to blu-ray.com My interest is for video and audio quality with movies I want to add to my library. Hollywood makes almost nothing new worth viewing, so there appears to be big business in releasing old movies in 4k UHD and Atmos sound tracks. War of the Worlds (1953), Casablanca (1942), Maltese Falcon (1941), North by Northwest (1959) are all released in 4k with exception high quality resolution. Chili Ron
Howdy, How a movie rates is just a general indicator for me. Siskel and ebert gave thumbs down to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I have a lot of disks and started buying home movies in about 1983 or so. Still some good ones not on disk, I still have vhs connected and working. I still want a BE KIND PlEASE REWIND sign too. Qustion of the day How many grooves are on a 33 rpm record? Best CR
