Alpo Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Said "choose your own enemy", but there at 49 seconds it's obviously the Indian Navy.
irish ike, SASS #43615 Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Watched me a lot of Popeye cartoons as a kid. Tom Hatten was the TV host.
Pat Riot Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 My Mom told me that when I was an infant she could put me in a baby seat and turn on Popeye, I guess it was played every day at a certain time back in the early 60’s, and I would sit for an hour quietly watching Popeye while she got things done around the house. She claimed that Popeye was the reason I lived spinach and other vegetables.
Texas Lizard Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Black and white TV at it's best....No bad words and fun programs...Engineer Bill was another one in my neck of the woods...I was in a good area, we had 7 TV stations... Texas Lizard Some days could pick up a San Diego station...
Linn Keller, SASS 27332, BOLD 103 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Me dear Pappy said Popeye is why he favored spinach. I hated the stuff. Wasn't until I was a man grown that I discovered spinach isn't grown in cans. Love raw spinach!

As I recall, from time to time there would be a Superman cartoon; sometimes, he would have a quick shot of Superman himself (a real person) standing behind a screen, where he'd change back into Clark Kent. That fella happened to be our next-door neighbor*. Between that and my Uncle Joe driving the ice cream truck life was good. We lived in La Puente. I do believe that town has changed substantially since 1956.
